"a little goes a long way." < -- when is this not true?

when does a little only go a little way?

Food, time, gas(excluding hybrids). Thats all I can think of if this Diphenhydramine euphoria I’m in from taking some Tylenol PM a little while ago.

the reason we point out that “in this case, a little goes a long way” is that in MOST cases a little goes a little way. this saying is not a truism. it’s an exception to what is otherwise a pretty reliable rule.
