How can I set up VPN under OSX and have network access at the same time?

I can do one, and the other. but not both.

That's how VPN works. Basically the driver operates at the hardware level, so you can't "switch" between the two networks.

Right, but I've done it before in Windows. Just don't remember how exactly, and if it can be reproduced under OSX.

in internet connect, under connect, under options, uncheck 'send all traffic over VPN connection'.
