If anyone has had an accurate reading can you please tell me from where I would like to get one. I have a burning question :-)

I accidentally read that as:
Do you guys believe in physics?

Hahahahahahah….I’m retarded.

JackAdams's avatar

No.

If they really had that so-called “power,” they would each have won a lottery, by now.

PIXEL's avatar

It can just work like in the movies. Some people see random future events in their head when dreaming. Some can sense danger. It works in different ways.

Psychics are fake, unfortunately good psychics really can “get” people because they are very good at information collection, statistics, reasoning and psychology. It is also critical to distinguish superstition from faith.

PIXEL's avatar

I’ve had a few psychic experiences. But really random. For example the clothes some people would wear tomorrow or someone sneezing. Its pretty wierd

I believe that there is an afterlife and I believe that ‘communication’ can take place between those that have passed from this life and those that are still in this world. I have no doubt of this, due to my personal experiences. I think that everyone has the ability to be open to this type of communication, but there are some that are very gifted in this area. So, yes, I believe that people with psychic abilities exist, however, I don’t believe you can go and ask anything and have your question answered. Psychics aren’t an encyclopedia to the dead. Also, I think anyone that goes to a psychic needs to be very very skeptical, because there are some people that call themselves psychic and they are just very good at ‘reading’ people and telling them what they want to hear. Unfortunately, I think the majority of practicing psychics are well intentioned, but aren’t really ‘receiving messages’, they just believe they are and so is the person they are ‘reading’. People are very good at believing things, if they want to believe it bad enough.

@PIXEL, your experience can be just called a “feeling”. We all can feel something based on past experiences and knowledge. But whatever we feel can never be 100%, it is a matter of probability and statistics.

PIXEL's avatar

@boxing No. I know this is not just a feeling. Because when it happens it’s usually pretty accurate. Most people don’t just have feelings that lets say Dave will wear GAP shorts with an Abercrombie shirt tomorrow.

I agree with Marissa. I believe some people can communicate with the spirit world, but as far as predicting future things, I doubt it. I’ve gone to a lot of so-called psychics, but they’re never once come close to predicting my future. I take it more like a fun experience.

I do believe people have great instincts and can pick up things about people, that others can’t. Sort of like profilers…

marissa's avatar

@boxing, I agree that a lot of people get ‘feelings’ that prove to be right, but my personal experiences have gone way beyond ‘feelings’, probability or statistics. However, you make a great point and that is why I am extremely skeptical when it comes to a ‘psychic’ experience.

fireside's avatar

@PIXEL – that explains why all psychics aren’t hitting the lottery. If only there was a way to win money by knowing what someone was wearing : )

I do have a friend who recently told me that he had been having some experiences that if true were way beyond “a feeling” but I haven’t had a chance to follow up and find out more.

Without the personal experience, I’d have to reserve judgment but I do believe that we are capable of far more than the accepted “normal”

robmandu's avatar

I too am extremely skeptical… but I hafta ask: How do we know that none of the past lottery winners weren’t psychic? Maybe they’re just good at keeping secrets?

bodyhead's avatar

There are four outcomes to an event and 100 people guess different outcomes. 25 of the people guess the correct outcome. It does not make them psychic.

A lot of people guess the outcomes to events. Even thought it’s completely random what feeling you will get, statistically some people will be more accurate then others. Real psychics do not exist. We all are subconsciously guessing all the time. It would only make sense that some are more accurate then others. It doesn’t give them special powers. It’s simply the science of probability.

How many times do you have conversations in your head before you have them with another person? How many of those would have to be accurate before you start thinking you’re psychic?

Even if I could guess another person’s reaction word for word 90% of the time, I would know that I’m not psychic. It would be hard not to use my probability powers to cold read and take advantage of people who seek hope and would believe in anything.

Math math math. Math is the answer to everything.

deaddolly's avatar

I hate math. Always have, always will…my psychic told me.

robmandu's avatar

@bodyhead, like this?

PIXEL's avatar

If you don’t believe in psychics then thats just fine. I know that they exist. It’s just all those fake psychics are making us all skeptical.

Nimis's avatar

This thread is so much funnier if you substitute physics for psychics.

boxing's avatar

@marissa, you are talking about the communication between the 2 worlds, which is quite different from “predictions”. This is quite a different topic though. I can simply say that I don’t believe that, but again you are the one who has the experiences that “counts”...

boxing's avatar

@PIXEL, it is very easy to disapprove yourself, but if you choose to believe, you do.

marissa's avatar

@ boxing, I see your point, given that distinction, I agree with you.

Nimis's avatar

Box: Wow. How did no one catch that?

boxing's avatar

And this is really the fundamental difference: a personal choice to believe or not.

boxing's avatar

@nimis, people caught it, the people who answered or discussed, I mean. The asker could have corrected it after others’ finding but at that time questions were not allowed to be edited in Askville.

PIXEL's avatar

I can sense 5 seconds before the phone will ring and can sometimes tell who it is. I have dreams of future events. Sometimes the silliest. And I used to be able to see spirits but that just freaked me out. I can’t even be near the Ouija board.

Box: Oops, only read their replies. Not the title to their replies.

marissa's avatar

“a personal choice to believe or not” You are absolutely correct on that boxing! My experiences have been significant enough to outweigh my ‘logical/scientific’ approach to such things and therefore, I choose to believe. However, your personal experiences in this area have not been, that is the crux of it all. Just as Pixel’s experiences have been significant. However, even given my experiences, I am still skeptical in regards to a lot that others say (not that I don’t believe people, I just look for another explaination first). That is why I am concerned when people seek the advice of a ‘psychic’, rather than being open themselves, they look to someone else for answers.

bodyhead's avatar

I don’t believe in superstition, magic, or psychics. I’m not sure that I believe anything that can’t be held up to scientific scrutiny. I usually know who’s calling me too. Typically different people call me different times of the day. Not everyone I know calls every day but I can generally guess who and when it’s going to be.

@PIXEL, You are not psychic. Your friends are predictable. Cataracts and other eye problems can explain ghost sightings

Or sleep paralysis!

Actually, this link is probably more relevant.
