How can I get from Bellingham, Washington to Vancouver, Canada?

Asked by jjd2006 (746points) October 10th, 2008

A friend and I are planning a spontaneous trip right now and we need to know the easiest/best way to get from Bellingham to Vancouver without a car. Bus? Ferry? Train? Etc…

Thanks!

Card or book; either one.

I (and millions of other American citizens) are getting both.

I used to live in Bellingham, and although I always drove when visiting BC, I think that the bus or train would be easiest. The bus will obviously be cheaper, but taking the Amtrak is fun and they have a snack car with Ivar’s and beer.

Looks like Amtrak can take both of you direct from Bellingham to Vancouver roundtrip for only $84 total.

You’re lucky to have an Amtrak station local to your town.

Agreed!

That is indeed a most reasonable fare for Amtrak.

For that price, I bet you have to ride on the roof.

Hitch, bus or train. It’s not very far. Check on Craig’s list to share a ride with someone.

If sharing a ride with a stranger, have a police officer buddy (if you have one, as I do) run a simple NCIC check on the person, so you aren’t riding with Freddy Krueger.

Whatever you do, make sure you bring your passport!

Why go to Canada when you could go to New York?

Excellent question, somalia4ever…
I have no idea why anyone would do such a thing.
