What is the Best Way to Emulate Gameboy Advance Games on a Nintendo DS?

Asked by tonedef (3935points) October 15th, 2008

I almost got lured into buying a fake R4 today (caught ya!), and then found out that they don’t even necessarily play GBA games anyway.

Do I need to put something in Slot-2 to be able to play GBA games? What do I put in it? And then a bonus question- where do I buy it? Thanks, guys :)

you put a GBA game into Slot-2, and that’s all there is to it really…

The process that you describe fails to qualify as emulation.

This is actually a good coincidence because I recently ordered a eLink GBA flash cart that supposedly works with the nintendo ds. I’ll give you an update once it arrives. (which will be soon, I ordered it a few weeks ago.)

I know a guy who said this:

I use a (slot 2) Supercard. The emulation isn’t always perfect but it is always playable. Plus it works great with DS games and since it’s a Supercard SD, it takes the same memory as my camera.

OK my eLink arrived today! I couldn’t put my DS down! The eLink works flawlessly with the nintendo DS and DS lite. I have about 10 games on mine right now. The software is a little hard to use, and you can only erase all of the games, the last one burned on to the cartridge, or replace one. You can’t delete a selected ROM. The eLink does not support clock either, but I don’t really mind much about that since you can get patches for ROMs that add the clock feature. Overall, the eLink is very stable and runs games at the highest speed with it’s special chipset. I’m very happy with it! :-D

but why go through all that trouble ? i mean, you already own those games…right ?

Haha. To be totally honest, iwamoto, I’m buying it solely to play Mother 3 in English. My computer’s GBA emulator is very slow, and pressing buttons to music is an important gameplay element. That’s not possible on my computer. :(

I also plan on playing Rhythm Tengoku on it for the same reason. BUT! if Nintendo ever decides to localize either game, I’ll pick that game up in a second!

well, speaking of mother 3, maybe this will be of some interest to you

Oh, I’m totally gonna scoop that up come January! Are you an EarthBound fan? :)

too be honoust, i never really played it, but i’d love to get in on it though :)

I recently got mother 3 (patched for English) on my eLink. Runs perfectly!
