Why is Kung Fu Panda coming out on Sunday?

Asked by jtvoar16 (2171points) November 4th, 2008

I just saw an advertisement for The Kung Fu Panda DVD coming out on a Sunday. Why are they releasing it then? I know there is no “proper release date” for movies or DVD’s, but it is superstitious to have them come out on Fridays(Movies) and Tuesdays(DVDs). I’m just wondering, ether way I am still getting it when it comes out.
My theory is Disney is continuing to take over the world, and thus, needs to change the release date of DVD’s for the master plan to work out right. (Mickey has AA on Tuesdays and Marriage Consulting on Fridays.)

They’re trying to buff up sales, they probably don’t have a lot of faith in the movie. Usually DVD’s are released on Tuesdays if I’m not mistaken. By releasing it on a Sunday it gives them a few extra days to rack up sales and pad the numbers.

I wonder if it’s a head-to-Walmart-after-church kind of thing?

@Alreda – Haha! Maybe they’ve made deals with churches to get a mention during each sermon?

And did you ever notice as a kid that disney channel shows would start on the 15s and 45s? Like 9:15 would be recess, 9:45 would be pepper-ann, etc… I think you’re right. They’re aiming for domination.

I just wonder why they are trying to change the system? I mean, do they just want to do it cause they can? Are they really planing the end of all humanity? Or rather enslaving all of humanity? Perhaps the DVD people pissed off the Disney People and the Disney People are rectifying their wrong by trying to change the system, thus bringing the eventual downfall of all entertainment and the end of DVDs as we know it…
Dear god… the world will end because of Kung Fu Panda…

So I think I figured it out! It appears that the movie industry is trying to faze out DVD all together and replace it with BlueRay. If this is true, then it would make logical sense to push DVD’s back to Sunday, meaning fewer copies need to be shipped to fewer stores, and BlueRays would take over the Tuesday slot of releases.
I believe at this point it is only Disney attempting this maneuver, perhaps testing the water, before other companies take over.
