Are embassies counted as part of the total land mass of a country?

Asked by Mtl_zack (6778points) November 17th, 2008

this was in my head for a while, but caren156 just reminded me of it.

what i mean is, when looking at statistics of a country, will military bases and embassies be counted under square kilometers for that country?

I would think so. I would seriously doubt they would subtract that from the total mass.

In the CIA World Fact book, the given area of a country is considered the total area contained within that country’s borders, regardless of sovereign areas encompassed within that country. Two exceptions are the Vatican in Italy, and Monaco in France.
