i am a girl who thinks tyler florence is adorable. i hate rachel ray. she tries to be too cutesy and down—homey. i know there are a lot of men and women who love her, and a lot of people who hate her. as far as shows, i like sandra lee’s show because she does the tablescape at the end. i think she’s going to run out of ideas eventually though.

As a food network dudette, I’ll first say that Giada is smokin’ hot, simply gorgeous. As for Emeril or Bobby, I’d have to go with Bobby – he’s a cutie!

Jane_Ann_Deaux's avatar

I’m a female, and would love love love to have Giada in my kitchen. She cooks way better food. It’s much more exotic than Rachel Ray’s.

I feel like I could cook anything Rachel Ray does without any help, where as Giada cooks food that would be challenging to prepare, and therefore more rewarding to eat and enjoy.

SoapChef's avatar

I second Jane. Sandra Lee has no talent whatsoever. I skip that one. I am not crazy about Emeril or Bobby, now Tom Collicio rowrrrrrr.

jca's avatar

if you watch Ina Garten, you’ll notice that when she’s around other people she’s always laughing. i’m like, what the fuck is she laughing at?

bythebay's avatar

<———is going to look up Tom Collicio…brb

ina garten is very upscale. great uppity show. great recipes. the laugh just goes with the content. “i’m driving to the market in my black mercedes for figs and wine—ha ha…

jca's avatar

i’m feeding my husband who can’t wait to go on another business trip so he can probably cheat on me, haha.

jca's avatar

i also like alton brown. he’s kind of cute in a nerdy way, and i like how he talks about the science of cooking.

charliecompany34's avatar

dinner impossible is a really good show. how do they do it? it actually mirrors my challenges in the kitchen on a smaller scale.

charliecompany34's avatar

but back to the thread, i am a giada man. great recipes. great content. beautiful photography.

bythebay's avatar

@soapchef – you win! I ate at Craft in NYC which is one of his restaurants, and had a spectacular Monkfish, I digress… and he was there with a table full of very pretty people. He made the rounds and worked the room well.

SoapChef's avatar

@ charlie I have owned restaurants and a catering business and I don’t know how they do it. What did you think of Robert Irvine getting the heave ho?
@bythebay Now that makes me jealous! I really want to dine at one of his restaurants and the fact that he was actually there, wow!

charliecompany34's avatar

@soapchef: i just now put 2 and 2 together on your fluther name. am i correct in saying you dig food and the soaps?

SoapChef's avatar

Half right, I dig food and make soap as a hobby. Lame moniker, I know.

charliecompany34's avatar

@soapchef: irvine was very good. dont know why he got the boot. since simon was made an iron chef, it pushed him off to the side, i think…

watch simon pull off a total vegan buffet for 150 cowboys in the reruns! that’s skills!

SoapChef's avatar

Irvine was booted because he fudged on his resume. Remember how at the beginning of the show, they said he cooked for the queen and the US president? Guess that turned out not to be true. I loved him though. Having spent a lot of time orchestrating and executing banquets and events, I can tell you the stress depicted on television is completely real.

In my kitchen, just hangin’ out? Rachel Ray…Giada is pretty, but strikes me as kind of phony. Cooking for me? Emeril…pork fat rules! Next door neighbor, who’s over all the time? Alton Brown. Good food (or should I say ‘Good Eats’?), smart and funny, and nerdy cute.

Raggedy_Ann's avatar

I agree with augustian. Rachel Ray if your having friends over and just want to hang out. I do also think that Tyler Florence is adorable. He can cook in my kitchen anytime.

PupnTaco's avatar

<pig mode> Well, Rachel’s got the booty, but Giada’s got the cans. </pig mode>

charliecompany34's avatar

@pupntaco: yes, giada is quite well endowed.

elchoopanebre's avatar

Even if Giada was a terrible cook (which she obviously isn’t) she’s pretty freaking hot. My vote goes to Giada.

Plus she’s Italian; everyone loves an Italian woman (in spite of their stereotypical bitchiness).
She can cook me some fettucini, cannoli, or gnocchi anyday.

PupnTaco's avatar

But for real, it’d be Ina & Alton.

charliecompany34's avatar

@pupntaco: alton is great in the kitchen. the nerdy scientific angle really pops! how he spends a whole 30 minutes on the right smoker fire still amazes me. love to watch ina too. she’s getting fatter i can tell, but she still inspires me on that high-class stuff.

cookieman's avatar

I choose Giada.

But I love Kat Cora when she’s on Iron Chef America (with my other favorite, Alton Brown).

Side note: Ina Garten looks EXACTLY like my wife (who is from Italy and a much better cook. Much better personality too).

We eat at Emeril’s restaurants in New Orleans quite often. A couple of years ago on a Sunday night the weekend right after Thanksgiving, he was in Delmonicos in New Orleans. We had several drinks with him, and he personally cooked our meals. He even made the Bananas Foster table side. He was awesome and down to earth. The food was even better . We also went to a private cocktail party at Emeril’s, which is his flagship restaurant on Tchopitoulas in NOLA. He was there. It was awesome.

I also like Giada. I have all of her cookbooks, and I watch the show frequently. Her food is easy to make, and it tastes good.

ckinyc's avatar

Jamie Oliver! I love how he just throws things together and the food always look rustic and yummy.

Ina’s dishes look good but that laugh got to go. Can’t stand Rachel Ray with her made-up words… EVOO, stoup < it drives me off the wall!

EmpressPixie's avatar

Alton, please. Cute, nerdy, and a great cook! What more could a girl want?

tonedef's avatar

I am a total Food Network nut, and if I had to pick a woman to cook with me, it’d be Ina Garten all the way. She’s so effervescent and classy. I’d have to hide my cheap vanilla, though.

As for a man, it depends on what I was looking for. Eye candy? Danny Boome. Smarts? Alton Brown. I love me some Alton.

ETA: @pupntaco, whoa! Samesies! I didn’t read yours until after I posted. You’ve got class.

poofandmook's avatar

Wow. Okay. There are so many angles here, since I’m a giant Food Network nut. My male hotties are definitely Tyler Florence, Danny Boome, and Jamie Oliver. Oddly enough, I also have to say Alton Brown because the nerdiness strikes me as possibly very sexy. (On another note, off Food TV for a second, I would not kick Rocco DiSpirito out of my bed for eating crackers!)

As far as the women, Sandra Lee could only be there if it meant she was the slave who schlepped all the groceries, and then went back into her dank basement hole until she was needed for further manual labor. I would love to cook with Giada or Rachel, as long as Rachel figured out a way to not use any red pepper flakes or tabasco. Oh, and um, Guy Fietti? YEAH. Thank you. That’s all I have to say.

EmpressPixie's avatar

@poof: I am so with you on Sandra Lee. Do not like.

tonedef's avatar

Oh, my god. I absolutely ADORE Sandra Lee, in the same way that Showgirls is my favorite movie. Check this shit out. This board is the most hilarious, thorough, and dare I say devoted group on TWoP. Their commentary on her episodes are to die for.

EmpressPixie's avatar

@tonedef: I thought you were sending me to Sandra Lee Loving Hell, but it was a sweet, sweet escape!!

I used to watch Food Network all the time and have stopped watching other than select shows since Emeril left for Fine Living Network. I really like Emeril, Bobby Flay, and I also like Alton Brown sometimes. I like Tyler but seem to miss his shows. I am also a big fan of Paula Deen and Rachael Ray! I do like Rachael as she is just a ‘normal’ person who has managed to make it in the ‘light’. She has never professed to being a professional and is very down to earth. I also like Emeril for that reason, he doesn’t come across as a ‘goody two shoes’ type. I think Giada is very pretty and some of the things she makes look real good but for the ‘average’ cook I think she is too much. I can not stand the ‘Barefoot Contessa’, her voice is grating to the nerves!

I have a 5 yr old daughter who actually loves watching some of the shows on FN and she was real upset when Emeril left and they don’t do the Emeril Live at night. She will actually watch some of those shows over ‘cartoons’ which is a good thing!

poofandmook's avatar

my goodness, I forgot about Paula! Bacon!!

augustlan's avatar

‘Hey, ya’ll!’

ckinyc's avatar

if you want to talk Bacon! Remember the Two Fat Ladies! They were a riot! Just wrap everything with streaky bacon.

jsc3791's avatar

@ jca and CharlieCompany: major LOLs and lurve for your comments about Ina Garten! I always thought that too! But everything she makes looks so tasty. Never trust a skinny cook…she’s got no trouble in that department.

trudacia's avatar

Neither, they are both really annoying. I prefer Lidia Bastianich on public television.

But if I had to pick…Giada definitely. Rachel Ray is a money whore. Could she produce more crappy products? I see her face everytime I turn around.
