Open Windows Mail from Firefox?

Asked by aanuszek1 (2290points) November 27th, 2008

I just convinced my parents to switch to firefox, and my dad noticed that there is no email button. Is there a way to add a button to the toolbar that will open windows mail?

The add-on WebMail.

You can add many accounts from hotmail, gmail, yahoo, and A LOT more email services and it notifies you when you have a new email. I use it and I love it. I have 2 different hotmail accounts and my gmail account attached to it.

I’m not looking for notification, just something where I can press a button and have it open windows mail. (Just like in IE)

I suppose Windows mail will be opened when you click on an email link? (e.g. mail@example.com << will clicking that open it? :)

If so, you can add a bookmark to the bookmarks toolbar with the location set to “mailto:” (and name e.g. “E-mail”).

What’s the point in having a button for opening email in the web browser anyway? Can’t you just create a shortcut for him in the “Quick Launch” thing by the start menu?

@rh
There really isn’t a point. I doubt many of my dad’s methods for doing things.

“It’s down here now, by the start button. They changed it in an update, there’s nothing you can really do about it. Still, it’s there and you can get it all the time now without having to be in the internet browser so it works out okay.”

Yes, that’s right, just make something up. Until you start doing that, you’ll be hitting your head against the wall 24/7. ;) Parents and their tech problems. Heh.

I understand you dads reason. One method is to install google toolbar. Once installed, Drop down the options link. Windows/msn/hotmail button link can be added to the toolbar.
