How do i get rid of e coli in my kidney?

Asked by rossi_bear (753points) December 1st, 2008

they said they found out that i have e coli in my kidney and because we all have it in our colon, and where i only have 5 inches of my colon left, my colon rubs against my bladder and that is how it went into my kidney. i ws in the hospital but i had to leave the nurses was no help. they would not give me the meds on time and wouldn’t give me more blankets. i sked for them to help me with my laptop and they wouldn’t do that either. i was on a scedual time to get my meds and it was way past due and the pain was bad. so i figured well, i have meds at home for pain so i am going home. but how do i get rid of the e coli?

You need to find another doctor. There’s nothing that any of us on the Internet can do for you, only medicine and advice given by a legal physician can help to heal you. You should be highly skeptical of all medical information given on the Internet, while some of it is good, a lot of it is not or is interpreted wrongly. I’m surprised the nurses were not treating you well, helping people heal is their job, and especially with issues like dispensing medicine on a schedule, not doing their job can lead to death. As much as you’d rather not go back, it really is the best option here. In my mind it is the only option.

@ dynamicduo… i was hoping there might be a home remady that i could use. but if i have to then i will go back tomorrow to a differant hospital. they were wrong at the one that i was at. they treat teir patients like it is a bother for them for us to be there. the person that we was next door to me was having the same problem with the nurses as i did and like i said the complaint is in with the addministrators and my dr. put one in too. this is the second time this hospital has mistreated their patients that i know of. and the nurses was fired. so i do hope something is done this time too. thank you for your concern and i will go back to the hospital tomorrow. i can’t go til then i have to be in court to deal with the prior insident with this hospital. then i will go to the other one.

If were diagnosed with pyelonephritis, or bacteria in your kidney, then you will need several weeks of antibiotics. Depending on the severity of the disease, and the type of bacteria, that antibiotic may need to be given intravenously, which will require either hospitalization or home treatment using a PICC line. There are no home remedies for this type of infection, and, you would be wise to take it seriously. That said, I don’t think your shortened colon is to blame, per se. E. coli is the most common cause of simple bladder infections in women, and bladder infections in women are very common owing to a shortened urethra and the proximity of the urethral meatus (opening) to the anus. Most likely, the E. coli traveled from your anus (butt), up your urethra, and then up to your kidneys (unless there is a direct connection from your colon to your bladder, which would be bad).

A very good choice of action. It’s sad to hear of the low quality service they provide, hopefully litigation will force them to rethink their approach to health care. I highly doubt there is a home remedy that could help. Bacterial infections are some of the hardest to treat even with a huge arsenal of science and medicine (one of the reasons why sepsis takes so many lives, even with today’s outstanding levels of science and treatment compared to the past, it’s still one of the biggest killers). Many home remedies do not stand up to science, let alone could take on such a formidable foe.

@ shilolo .. that is what they said that it came from from by colon. it is so close to my bladder that it has caused it to go through it like the way it did. @ dynamicduo .. i know it is sad that we trust these people with our lives and then someting like this happens. it makes one wonder how many lives have been in so much danger and they die because of neglect.

All in all though, it’s good to have doctors around, our knowledge of bacteria and infectious diseases is one of the key reasons we live the massive lifespans we do today.

@ dyanamicduo.. i totally agree as long as there is a right dr. to fix the problems and if the nurses do their right job.
