What is the best way to get sap off of a rain coat?

I have a rain jacket made of polyester with tree sap on the sleeve. What is the best way to get it off?

I haven’t tried this personally, but the weapon of choice is said to be hand sanitizer. Scrub it into the stain for a couple of minutes, scratching with your fingernail if necessary.
