What percent do bestselling authors commonly make on a novel?

i.e. 1% on 20 million copies of X novel

I still don’t think it’s 1% and you will not convince me otherwise.

I think it depends on the publisher, editor, and the quality of the novel. :)

It’s in the contract negotiated by the agent.
