Is it true that you can update an iPod touch to an iPhone?

my cousins friend apparently somehow updated his iPod touch to an iPhone, is this true, and if so how do you do it?

No, that’s a myth. There’s no way to do it, unfortunately… they use different hardware.

Oh gosh no. That’s impossible to do. The iPhone has specific hardware that the iPod touch does not have.

Eventually you might be able to download an application that gives you a VoIP (voice over IP) phone that works over Wifi… but I highly doubt that will happen anytime soon – the main feature that differentiates the two hardwares is in fact the phone capability, and since Apple has full control over what apps are sold through their store, they sure won’t be allowing an app that takes away from their possible target market.

yeah i didnt think so i thought it over a billino times and couldnt think of a way it could be possible..

This is probably what cousin’s friend had on his iPod Touch.

There’s no GSM antenna, Camera, GPS, Bluetooth or a place to put the SIM-card, so no.

No. You can’t. Only thing you can really do is Jailbreak it. :] I did it to mine and I love it. I get free apps, backgrounds, other settings. It’s pretty awesome

There is an app called Fring that does Voip. It’s in the app store. You would need a mic for the iPod touch though. And wifi
