How do I get more traffic to my blog and website?

Asked by heathers (1points) September 4th, 2007

I own a Pilates studio and I just started a blog about Pilates. I’d like to know if anyone out there has some tips on how to drive more traffic to my blog and website. The website is www.709core.com. The blog is www.709core.blogspot.com

Any help appreciated!

I would start out by buying a few targeted keywords through Google AdSense. You should also try to get your site linked on other sites…I would advise you to not “spam” sites like this one or other forums with your web site. Google is smart enough to recognize such spamming and can even blacklist your site from their listings.

You should also try Feedburner

Add good content, comment on similar websites (show that you have knowledge about the subject) with a link to your own site (most sites allow you to add a URL to your comment), link to websites of interest to your visitors in a blog post, they might link back to you. So, bottom line: try to find people that might be interested in your blog.

Any easy (and free) way is to make sure you’re “pinging” Technorati when you publish. That is, “telling” them whenever you publish something. Here’s where you can do that: http://technorati.com/ping/

You need to audit your site. Create Title tags, descriptions, keywords, etc. Redirect http://www.709core.com/index.html to http://www.709core.com/. You don’t have a blog section so I don’t know why these guys above are talking about technorati. The site needs a complete audit/overhaul. I’d reference this article by Matt McGee to get you started. http://www.smallbusinesssem.com/2007/06/19/how-to-seo-your-site-in-less-than-60-minutes/

I’ve also found it helpful to join several social media sites and list your blog in your profile information. I don’t spam others with my blog address, but when they visit my profile page they can see my blog address and visit if they wish. According to my analytics, a lot of my blog traffic comes from these social media sites. I also try to list my blog on several blog networks. That seems to work as well.
