How do I cook beans in a crock pot?

Asked by emilyrose (2272points) September 4th, 2007

I just found out that my roommate has one and it seems much easier than boiling on the stove and forgetting about it like I usually do. I have burned more than my fair share of pots doing this. I think I will mainly do black beans, black eyed peas, maybe garbanzos.-

Cover with water and soak overnight. In the morning put in crockpot with seasonings like salt, pepper, onions, ham hocks etc. Turn it on with a little more water and let her rip.

@gooch I will give your recipe a try today. Am going to buy ham hocks in two hours. Soaking a large handful of black eyed peas in crock for 24 hours.

@all sorry was black eyed beans, not black eyed peas. Will use pork bavariand instead of pork hocks
