Is there a new upcoming site you think will surpass facebook?

Is there even anything out there that is cool to use and people will get hook on besides facebook and ugh…myspace anymore?

Nope. In fact Facebook is taking steps to make sure you never want to leave (well, other than the whole “if you want to delete your account you have to delete every single thing you’ve ever put on Facebook” thing) via its Facebook Connect offering which will allow external sites to leverage your Facebook info, meaning a bit of Facebook will be with you on certain sites you visit.

If anything, I think people will get tired of Facebook and similar sites and won’t join another site to replace it, instead choosing to go back to phone/email/live talking.

I’m still using myspace… I don’t really like facebook at all! I’m thinking about building my own social networking site to blow them all out of the water. So the answer to your question is maybe soon!

@ dynamicduo: You don’t have to delete every single thing you put on facebook anymore. They fixed that about half a year ago.

And, i think something will surpass Facebook, but i don’t think it will happen the next 5, maybe 10 years.

Heh, no surprise they would have fixed that after people found it out. Talk about a deterrent to using the system.

maybe in a couple years, I myself have found facebook to be so boring and I barely go on it anymore. While everyone still seems facinated and obsessed with it..

I much more prefer loose and open social networks like Twitter and brightkite instead of hanging on Facebook and it’s likes. I especially like how brightkite merges the physical with the virtual so that I can benefit from both at once. Maybe those will take off and be the next thing once the userbase grows.

Though I think it is more likely that sites like Myspace and Facebook instead will merge somewhat with them through Facebook connect and Google friend connect. I read the other night that Twitter had been added to Friend connect already.

Open social networks like Ideento might be an alternative as well since they can aggregate your activity from other corners of the web into one place, kind of like Friendfeed.

I deleted my Facebook around six months ago; I didn’t feel a thing. Before that I had MySpace, and I think it was better (less annoying for some reason, tho I don’t know how it is now). For me it is all about simplicity—put up some pics, a comments wall, and a personalized page. The next one should be simple like that lol.

I feel all of these sites are great and nice when they are new to you but after awhile. To me I always want more than what they seem to offer…I have been on facebook, askville, and this site and these all are great for information and different opinions but I seem to want more I’m a talking type of person one on one and people on these sites don’t seem to want to do that on a regular basis so I found a site that is more to what I like right now IMVU.COM but I’m sure after awhile that will change as well lol. Will I leave the other sites….no but most of my time will be on my new site until I find something more to my liking.

Yep. Probably, maybe something more family-friendly? Like a something like Fluther.com, Twitter.com, Facebook.com, and MySpace.com all combined into one.
