Help with a song and a movie.

Asked by jrpowell (40562points) December 20th, 2008

We all know the scene where two people run together with arms outstretched in slow motion for a loving embrace and a song plays in the background. What was the original song and movie?

The music is either “The Chariots of Fire Theme” – by Vangelis or it’s Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet.”

As for the movie I’m not 100% on that one.

Theme from Romeo & Juliet. AKA- A Time For Us.

The Sound of Music? “The hills / are alive…”

@Knot; It’s two people if you happen to have double vision. Do street drugs cause that? (Particularly those carried in from “South of the Border, “down Mexico way…)

You’re right…they call it “tequila.” Maybe I was thinking of one of the Muppet movies. :^)

TOP GUN and I think the song was DANGER ZONE.

I think I first saw it in a TV commercial, maybe for shampoo, sometime in the 1960s.

“Chariots of Fire is an instrumental theme written and recorded by Vangelis for the soundtrack of the 1981 film of the same namesource

Edit – Isn’t it funny that this stereotypical romantic song really wasn’t first made for a romantic movie? The movie was about athletes training for the Olympics…haha!

@PnL: What about I’ll be watching you by The Police. HUGE love song that was written, and intended to be, a song about spying and espionage. Gotta love people who don’t really listen to the lyrics.

Example #2: Hinder’s Lips of An Angel. I get how guys could like (even though most don’t) it but how can women really like this song? If you don’t know what I’m talking about then look up the lyrics.

Sakata – No wonder I’ll be watching you freaks so many people out :). As for Hinder’s song, I don’t like it even if you ignore the lyrics but I see what you mean.

Wait – the Chariots of Fire movie had men in flappy underwear all running in the same direction – no running arms outstretched toward each other…..

Chariots of Fire
Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet
Sorry I couldn’t find a clip of the running in the field part. Not sure where that started…
