Is There A Free Program That I Can Get Movies For My iPod touch?

Asked by desiree333 (3219points) December 20th, 2008

I usually use Limewire, but it really slows my computer down and gives me tons of viruses. I need something that is free and virus free that I can put onto my iPod. I have been trying to convert my DVDs onto my iPod via Handbrake, but its not working. Any suggestions?

If you want YouTube videos, then you can put “kick” in between the “www.” and “youtube”

www.youtube.com/blalalala
becomes
www.kickyoutube.com/blalala

Then you pick your format and let it generate, then right click that link and download.

Those links don’t take you anywhere btw lol

@ queenzboulevard i went to www.kickyoutube.com and all it was was a video about the website but theres was no way to actually get to the website.. What do I do?

you find the vid you want, then put in kick. when you put in kick, it brings up a toolbar at the top of the page. I just tried it to get you a screenshot, and it looks like YouTube found a way to get rid of it because it just takes me back to the YouTube homepage. So I guess scratch that for now sorry. YouTube videos are bawlin and hilarious!

oh ok. So can I put these videos on my iPod touch?

You can put whatever you want on it. First you need to download it, then you need to convert it to the right format & size.

@desiree333

no, you can have all sorts of movies on your video iPod.

Of course, you can download your movies and then convert them using a variety of different programs, both freeware and shareware.

For DVDs, you can rip them to your harddrive using DVD Shrink (free) or AnyDVD (paid, but you can also rip HD content) and then convert them to a format for your iPod using a program.

iPod takes video files in .mp4 or .mpg format. As long as you have a good converter, you can put any video file into that format, even videos from cell phones (.3pg)

For YouTube videos, I use a firefox app called “download helper”. When you download/install it, it’s in the right hand corner and when you’re on a youtube page (or other page with streaming video) you can click on the DownloadHelper symbol and it will download the video into a .flv file onto your computer, then you can convert it for your iPod!

@seekingwolf thanks, very helpful. But can you recommend and good programs to convert my DVDs onto my iPod?

DVDx is a good DVD ripping program for getting DVD files—> AVI files.

I like to use ArcSoft MediaConverter. It works great for MANY video file formats (like AVI) and also pictures and music files. It’s shareware but you can get it for free, I’m sure. This is my favourite converting program and I always recommend it.
