Lady Flutherers, how long does it take you to get ready to go to work? Plus some bonus questions.

Asked by gimmedat (3951points) December 21st, 2008 from iPhone

It takes me like 45 minutes to an hour to shower, put on make-up and do my hair. I don’t think that’s unreasonable. Also, do you feel the need to “get ready” as in hair and make-up even when you have no plans for the day? I do. And, once you start wearing make-up can you go back to not wearing any? I don’t think so. Finally, what do you wear when you’re lounging at home? I wear jammies and a T-shirt, I’m never dressed at home. Just curious.

It takes me an hour to get ready, but that is about 10 to 15 minutes to eat breakfast included. I always get up and do my hair and makeup no matter what. Even if I am going to do yard work. I dont lounge in my jammies, always jeans at home unless it is late in the evening. I think it is the age in which I grew up that dictated that we always did our makeup and hair for the day.

It takes me about a half hour to shower and get ready. I can go out with or without makeup, neither way phases me a bit. If I don’t have plans for the day I do not get made up. I also wear jammies and a t-shirt at home.

I can take up to two hours to get ready, i tend to change clothes a few times. i don’t wear makeup except lip stuff so it doesn’t take long. Around the house I wear pjs and occasionally i’ll get dressed, plans or not.

I swear it takes me a half an hour to get ready probably less most of that time i’m just messing around. I lay in bed until I absolutely have to get up and shower and dry my hair. I don’t wear makeup so that cuts out time. I eat breakfast at work. Did I mention I live a half a mile from work, sometimes I bike/walk. I always wear pjs around the house unless their are plans then i’ll get dressed.

A normal morning, 20 minutes. If I’ve overslept or hit the snooze one too many times, I’m like a cat with it’s tail on fire – I can do it in 7.

It takes me forty five minutes to one hour to get ready. I can do it in thirty minutes if I don’t have to shampoo/dry/style my hair. I am so glad to hear others wear their jammies/Ts at home. I love my pjs and can’t wait to put them on.

I’m no lady, but I usually spend at least 45 minutes to get ready, I normally like to take my time, shower, shave, eat, adjust my tie and work clothes to look nice, style my hair, and off to work. I generally will take small moments to check email, fluther and what not while I’m getting ready as well.

30 minutes from alarm to door, including shower, dress, hair, makeup.
I like sweats at home.

45 minutes to 1 hour until I’m ready and i wear whatever I feel around the house, usually nice sweats and a funny tee.

I can get ready in 30 minutes, that includes shower. I only do that if neccesary. My average time is about 45 minutes and that is all inclusive. (Shower, hair, make up…yadda, yadda, yadda) If I have to get my son ready that takes another 15 minutes or so because he is impossible to dress!
I tend to walk around in a big t-shirt and undies at home. Funny that you ask the make up thing, I just recently stopped wearing make up. I’m not against it or anything, I just don’t feel like wearing it. I’ll probably snap out of this phase though because I have fun putting make up on.

Please understand that I don’t have a lot of hair due to chemo – so that REALLY cuts down the time!

About 20 mins – oh and I work at home – I’m self-employed. Let’s say 10 mins of laying in bed thinking about getting up, then 10 mins shower/drying off/ make-up (lip gloss…don’t know why I still wear it daily!), Yep…that’s it.

Oh, about 50% of the time, I’m in PJ pants and a t-shirt. Some days, I actually get dressed!

When I worked out of the house 45mins, tops.

I shower before I go to bed, which I find relaxes me in addition to making my mornings more stream-lined. Occasionally I pick out clothes the night before. I also don’t wear make-up any more – yes, you can give it up! Your mornings will go quicker and your skin will be much happier (or so was my experience).

That said, to get up, brush my teeth, wash my face, fix my hair (which rarely gets more elaborate than a quick flat iron to the front bits), put on my clothes and find my bag still takes up to 45 minutes. The morning is not my smartest time of day.

As for around the house, I almost immediately put on my slippers, and I’m in pj’s or sweats soon after. If I can’t be comfy in my own home, forget it. Game over.

I don’t work at the moment, but when I did: I showered the night before (still do), and needed about 20 minutes to half an hour to get dressed, do my hair (not much to it, my cut does most of the work) and put on makeup. These days I rarely wear make-up, but I almost always get dressed (jeans and a t-shirt/polo). I wear my hair in a pony-tail practically every day. If I absolutely had to, I could be out the door in about 7 minutes. Since I don’t, I take an hour or more to fully wake up.

i always leave about 10 minutes after i should. if i have to, i’m sure i can get ready in about 10 minutes or less. i’m pretty much always in a rush in the mornings because i’m not a morning person and always wake up late, but it still takes me about 30–45 minutes to have my coffee, get dressed, put on makeup (sometimes i do that in the car on the way), and run my fingers through my hair in a halfassed attempt to make it look decent. i have to attribute about 5 minutes of that to just like diddle-daddling around haha, i kind of stumble around incoherently for awhile every morning.

when i’m not leaving the house, the only thing i do to get ready is wash my face and brush my teeth, haha. i don’t even change my clothes. if i’m going out but not going out, like just to the post office or something, i just throw on something decent, and put on makeup.

around the house i’m always in a giant tshirt, and maybe some shorts or pj pants. i’m changing into pjs before i even put my stuff down when i walk in haha
