Do you become more religious around the holiday season?

Asked by GAMBIT (3958points) December 23rd, 2008

A minister after church says “Joe how come I only see you on Christmas and Easter? You need to join the army of the Lord”. Joe says “I have joined His army parson”. How do you figure that” says the minister. Joe replies “I’m in His Secret Service”.

No. I’m an atheist, so I get to be generous and kind all year round.

“Generous and kind”, religion, and Christmas are not mutually exclusive. One does not precede the other, nor does anyone claim they do.

No, I’m not Christian so no, I don’t get more religious.

When I was religious I did become more religious around Easter.

Now it’s kind of the reverse. I’m a-religious, but most of the year I’m cool with religion, if that’s what you’re into. But during the holidays, (Christmas and Easter) I get dragged to church, and the sheer number of people who take certain biblical stories literally starts bothering me.

No and those people are called “Chreasters”

Being a pastor and person of faith, I know the blessings of stating engaged with a faith community all year though.
And I try to be generous and kind all year long as well.

my family generally drags me to christmas/easter service every year, but i don’t count myself as ~faking religion, because though i go and listen, i’m only going for family purposes haha.

I get more annoying. When Christians bring up the religious side of the holidays I share their pagan roots. Mithras time is on the way :)

No. Why should I. I only do this if the holiday is holy or if I want to do something religious.
