You delete it like any other file…

iwamoto's avatar

that was my guess as well, also, don’t forget to remove them from the bittorent client or it will redownload the removed files

asmonet's avatar

Um. What.

Right-click. Delete.

eambos's avatar

Don’t forget to empty the recycle bin if you don’t shift-delete.

format the hard drive, you probably got viruses!???

Daethian's avatar

To truly delete it so it is not recoverable by anyone with data recovery software you have to find a good file shredding program or do a full reformat of the hard drive. Just deleting a file only HIDES it from your view, it doesn’t truly remove it from the hard drive. Ask anyone who’s been arrested and had their computer confiscated!

@netxm- you have to either be really stupid or just plain careless to get a virus from torrents.

iwamoto's avatar

@Daethian, that’s why the mac has this “erase free space” button

netxm's avatar

that’s my job – viruses, mostly people getting viruses from file sharing…. but maybe I’m really stupid

El_Cadejo's avatar

@netxm theres a difference between file sharing with P2P and file sharing with bit torrent.

and i second what eamboss said, its pretty hard to get a virus with torrents unless your completely careless/stupid.

netxm's avatar

now I feel really stupid, I thought that P2P = Bit torrent
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_(protocol)
Maybe I missed something, never mind I thought if a person wants to delete all torrents files, there is something wrong…. so I guessed virus…

netxm's avatar

by the way, you’re right it’s hard to catch a virus if you download archive of photos from buddy’s PC but if download cracked Photoshop or other cracked soft, man, it’s impossible to avoid that (in my experience);

sandystrachan's avatar

who said i had a virus i know i didnt
i just decided to stop usin torrents and want rid of them and any info left by them so i know there is now way of anyone findin the files or shreds of them if and when i decide to sell this pc

jingram20's avatar

well the only way to do all that is to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows thats the only way to be sure and make sure you get rid of everything because youre computer archives everything into diffent parts of the computer thats how the government d=finds all the stuff on youre comp they no where to look and can read all that stuff but just do a fresh install

sandystrachan's avatar

thats the silly way cause even a fresh install your hard drive partitions some if not all the info on the hard drive .

jingram20's avatar

format the hard drive youre self and than install if you format youre self than it will get rid of it all and than you reinstall windows or take the hard drive out smash the disks inside and throw it in a river or somthing than get a new harddrive there cheap nowadays and install windows thats even better thats what i did with my old comp i smashed the disks inside the drive so ya and trust me i download alot of stuff my 500gb hard drive is full of stuff from isohunt lol

sandystrachan's avatar

i already did a format and install trust me the files are still there hidden away .
as for smashing the hard drive they are metal so to smash is hard and even if you did break it they can still get the information from the drive they have there ways .

jingram20's avatar

trust me its not hard to smash those disks i did it you open the the case and there are a few disks in there take a screw driver and or hammer would be better and smash away into hundreds of little peices trust me no one is going to put all that back togther and wait a min y are you so worried about it anyway i meen i sold pc’s before that i downloaded torrents on before and never had one come back to many and trust me i download millions of files a year lol every new thing i get so ya i wouldnt even worry about it in the first place

sandystrachan's avatar

so you smashed metal !?!?!?!
with a screw driver ?!?!?!?!?!
i want rid of the files so they are not on my hard drive anymore is that too hard to comprehend this isnt even my computer its a computer i got from someone else.who even said i downloaded anything the files are just here

jingram20's avatar

yes i smashed the disks inside the case with a screw drive ok well im guessing you have never opened a hard drive before its not hard to smash those disks trust me on that note if you dont go get an old computer and open the hard drive and try it youre self

sandystrachan's avatar

i have opened a drive before the one i opened had a few disks inside and the were metal i could bend them not break them

jingram20's avatar

its not as hard as you think if you havnt really tried than how would you know yes they bend but thing ony bend so far till they break idk maybe the disks in mine where diffrent rom youre i doubt it but maybe idk it was the first one i tried to break and i did it so ya

sandystrachan's avatar

cant you read i have opened drives before i always open computers but for the hard drives i have opened they dont smash cause for it to smash would mean it was brittle or made from some glass type thing they have all been metal and metal doesnt SMASH its bends and can be grinded and filed

jingram20's avatar

ok well im telling you smashed this one i no what i saw and i no what i did so you cant tell me i didnt do it but like i said i no what i did so i got nothing to prove im done on this topic

sandystrachan's avatar

i was DONE on this topic right after i posted it :L:L:L:L:L

sandystrachan's avatar
