Here’s a better one: Why did the turtle cross the road? To get to the SHELL station!!

Because it could.

Some don’t know these “jokes” so stop it…

Klaas is right. This is not even a joke; we use it to make little kids (under 6) shriek with laughter. Q; Why did the chicken cross the road? A; To get to the other side. Davey, does this strike you as funny?

As I am currently the parent of a 6 year old boy, I can confirm that this joke is evidently the height of witty repartee, as is any knock-knock joke. A recent example from my son:

Knock, Knock.
Whose there?
Batman.
Batman who?
Batman jump on you and beat you up so you can’t go to school.

Cue howls of laughter, joke to be repeated 6 times in the next hour.

Child abuse. I don’t approve of it, but I’m beginning to understand it.

@ gailcalled: No, I don’t find it funny, it’s just logic… There are some fun questionnaires with questions like these on the web, but they don’t belong here.

The chicken crossed the road to appreciate the side from which it came.

Ah, extolsmith, how very Confucian of you.

leftspin's avatar

It was not the chicken that crossed the road, but the road that crossed under the chicken.
