I have only ever been able to select multiple layers in CS2 and up. If there is a setting for this functionality in CS I would love to know it though :).

I don’t think CS offers that capability. What you can do though is use Layer Sets, or link multiple layers together… or upgrade your CS.

oh okay I think I just assumed that all versions did that, i use CS2 at work and I get confused when I’m at home and at work ha. Thanks for the info I guess I will look into an upgrade I think its up to CS3 now isnt it ha?

Actually, they’re on CS4 now… but CS3 is bombdiggity.

oh snap someone pull the nails outta my eyes and bring me into 2008…or 2009 depends how the long the nail removal takes…i feel like ive been missing out!!! is it a HUGE difference from CS to CS4? can CS4 even run on an ibook G4?

I don’t know anyone who’s actually on CS4… It came out before anyone figured out all the new features in CS3. CS3 is pretty much industry-standard right now. As for system requirements, you’ll have to look into it… I run on G5’s.

Hold down the control key on a pc or the command key on a mac while selecting your different layers one at a time. See if that helps.

Shift-select will select contiguous layers, command-click (Mac) will select non-contiguous layers. I just tested this on Photoshop CS4.

You may have corrupt preferences. This works fine on my end so there is something wrong.

well i got ps cs4 so im good now haha

Yep that will fix the problem. I had a few issues with cs3, and didn’t want to change to cs4. Turns out I really like cs4. I think I’ll keep it.

I have been working on photo shop and keep seperate HDs each with a different version of photoshop on it. I use CS3 but before that I used 7.0 and I was always able to select multiple layers while using 7.0. I think it has something to do with the prefferances and I found out about 2 years ago as I was having the same problem. I will try to find the solution again and post it when I find out.

I use Photoshop 7 at work on a PC and it won’t let me select multiple layers, but in CS4 on my Mac it will. I think it has something to do with the earlier versions of Photoshop or using it on a PC. It is very frustrating though, as I am a graphic designer. My boss is planning on upgrading all the programs to CS5 soon (coming out this month) so this will be awesome.
