Are you a PC-guy, Mac-guy or a Linux, err... Penguin?

Asked by klaas4 (2189points) September 18th, 2007

Or maybe FreeBSD?

I use Windows (a.k.a. Winblows) but I’m going to switch to Mac, as some may have noticed…

Once you go Mac, you never go back, they say! :-)

ps some people do go back from MAC – my uncle bought a macbook a few years ago and returned it almost a few weeks after because of the lack of enterprise applications and because he wasnt enthusiastic enough to learn the basics of using a computer all over again

I’ve got a macbook (with parallels running win2k, and two different installations of CentOS5), and a linux “file server in a closet” at home.

I run Windows XP at work (Autocad, sadly, does not come in a Mac flavor), as well as a couple of Linux boxes at work too.

I mostly use OS X.. But I do have Windows 2000 Pro and Ubuntu running with VMware Fusion on my iMac.

Matters Very little to me what the system is.

I have XP on my laptop with an Ubuntu partition

I’ve used OS X and MacOS before that

Dos is/was fun

its all good in my view

Triple boot laptop running OSX, Vista, and Ubuntu, dual boot desktop running XP and Ubuntu, but was born a mac user and remain pretty loyal to the hipster camp.

I bought my first mac last summer (a macbook) and I’ll never go back to windows if I can help it. I have to boot into xp through parallels to access the online content for my calculus class, but other than that it’s all good.

I’m a Linux guy (or Penguin, if you wish so ;-). I use Xubuntu, 7.04 at the moment but if I find the time I’ll see if I can upgrade to 8.04.

Vincentt's avatar

Make that 7.10, sorry ;-)

I am an “all of the above guy”, but I agree on winblows. I am almost tempted to completely wipe my mac and put Linux on it, partly just for grins.

I currently dual boot Ubuntu 7.04 ( to be upgraded to 7.10 soon) and Microsoft Windows XP.
Wine is great, but a lot of video games still run better under Windows; especially since my ATi Xpress 200m video card has horrid Linux drivers.

If I could, I’d buy an iBook. As it is, I’m limited to using the iMacs in my campus’ computer labs.

I am a Mac only guy. For personal use it works better in my personal estimation that anything else. I have no personal experience with it in a corporate environment but I have heard and seen very good things. I would be very sad to have to go back to Windows or even Linux at this point.

I used to be a die hard Windows user.

Then I started to realize how crappy it was and started experimenting with Linux. Then I realized that I’m not the Linux type, sure I can do normal day to day stuff just fine in it, but compared to how acquainted I was with Windows (I would consider myself a power user) I couldn’t accomplish the same tasks.

In mid 2007 I got myself a MacBook being reassured by the fact that if I didn’t like OS X I could always install Windows on it. Since I went Mac I’ve never gone back.

When I got my new MacBook in April 2008 I had to go without a Mac for a week because I didn’t want the deal to fall through like it had a few times before. I had to use my Windows desktop, and during that time I had come to dislike Windows XP even more.

Never used Windowz in my life. Always Mac since 1992, and last month I start using UBUNTU with a pre-loaded netbook from Amazon and I love it! so I guess I will be a Mac-Ubuntu User from now on.
