Is DISH network acting weird for anyone else?

Asked by Sorceren (674points) January 16th, 2009

We’ve had repair techs out twice, no help; when you try to change or recall channels it either takes forever to happen or, when you get the channel, it displays an error message saying that either

a) the satellite signal has been lost and is being reacquired,
b) you aren’t authorized to watch this (local!) channel, or
c) you should reset the system.

And then you may get an apology screen, telling you they’re working on fixing the problem and it’s not your fault—except that nobody on the help line seems to know what I’m talking about when I tell them that! AAARGH!

my friend just blogged about how dish networked totally removed several prime time channels indefinitely, you should call them to see if that happened to you…super bummer for her…no 24!

Have seen the unauthorized message pop up in the middle of shows recently. Changing channels up/down usually fixes it. (Never happened yet in a recording, knock on wood).

Also, for a while there, not so much now, it seemed that primetime on Fox, the sound for some shows was just the “rear surround” channel… not the normal “stereo left & right” channels.

At the moment, no complaints. And overall, been loving the Dish.

We are sorry to hear that you have experienced those issues. We hope the issues you were experiencing have since been resolved. In the event that someone experiencing the same issues is viewing this forum I would like to give some steps that should help.

Signal Loss (attn 015/002):
1. Make sure that nothing is blocking the satellite dish. ex. snow, leaves, etc.
2. Unplug receiver for 10 seconds then plug it back in, the receiver should turn on by itself. Keep in mind that you will get the attn 015 message, but this time it should aquire the signal.
3. Make sure the satellite connections are secure.
4. (only is weather is good) Perform a check switch test, Press the menu button then the numbers 6–1-1, select check switch on the right side of the screen, then test on the bottom of the following screen, once the test is finished exit the menus and give the receiver some time to acquire the signal then you should be fine.

Not authorized to view programming (attn 005):
1. Try plugging out the receiver and plugging it back in after 10 seconds.
2. If you are still getting the same message give us a call so we can make sure that all the receivers on your account are authorized.

Hope this helped.
