What would you if you were spending your birthday alone? What kind of plans would you make?

Buy myself a Carvel Cake, order some of my favorite food. Download Frank Sinatra singing Happy Birthday, then blow out the candles. Send myself flowers, listen to my fav tunes, dance around in panties and get dressed up for no reason, then watch a sesh of my fav movies and down a pint of icecream.

I wouldn’t. I’m sick of my birthday but wishing you a happy one! Oh, and get yourself a good present…

Buy yourself something big which you wanted to have badly.

I would do the thing I love best: Sleep all damn day long :)

Oh, and Happy Birthday!

Thanks. My birthday isn’t until next month. There is an out of town wedding the same weekend and everyone that I would celebrate is going. I can’t make it to the wedding, so I will be here alone. I have time, so hopefully I will think of something to do. Thanks all!

I would get a kayak early in the morning and paddle around somewhere I’ve never been before. I’d stop and tie up at one of those restaurants that has a dock and have a drink and a cup of soup for a light lunch. Then I’d continue paddling and head back to docked again around dusk. By the time I got back my arms would be really tired. (I have done this to the point that I felt like my shoulders were going to explode. :^> )

I’d have a small dinner somewhere near the dock which would include a glass of wine I’ve never had or a half bottle I usually don’t get for myself and hopefully some food I’ve never tried before or usually don’t get for myself.

If I had any energy to stand (and my legs have really been doing nothing all day, so I should) I’d go to some place that I knew had live music and see some band I’d never heard of before.

Afterward I’d walk home exhausted and sleep for about 12 hours. That’d be a perfect birthday by myself. Your mileage may vary.

I see you like Starbucks®... go there with a good book/magazine and chill, then grab a movie. Afterward, maybe a run/walk on the beach and then some spa-time at home?

I would mope around the house and feel sorry for myself.

Ok, not really. I’d probably treat myself to a nice dinner and go see a movie.

Mine’s tomorrow, but happily, I won’t be spending it alone. But to answer your question, if I’m by myself, it’s just another day. I don’t pay much attention.

Since I have a winter birthday too – January 15th – it is often cold and I am often on my own. I usually spend the bulk of the day reading if I am alone and will make myself my favorite birthday cake from my childhood – banana layer cake with coffee icing. Baking and reading are my two favorite winter activities.

This year I was in Florida on my birthday and was hoping to reant a boat on the Homosassa to see the manatees. But it was a cool gray day, so we went to the art museum in St. Petersburg and out for Thai food at night.

Happy Birthday, other Capricorns!

A day at the spa, shoe shopping or a day of downtime, ordering in, watching cheesy movies…..(that’s what I do!)

Get a massage, browse a music store, browse a book store, go fishing, build a ship model, clean the garage…ok, maybe not that last, but everything else. Then have chinese food.

janbb's avatar

@Knotmyday What is about Chinese food that makes it so comforting to eat alone? As I noted in another thread, it is one of my alone time pleasures.

Jan- I don’t know, but now I’m hungry.

Just an update… My birthday is on Friday, February 20th.

Some decided not to go to the wedding, so I won’t be alone after all! My girlfriends have planned a night out for Friday. Hopefully the storm passes by then and doesn’t rain.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will definitely try them out another night.
