How can I get rid of stuck pixels on my iPhone?

Asked by MarkAddison (57points) January 26th, 2009

There are a few stuck pixels on the top of my iPhone. I’ve tried the press on it method. It works for a few hours, but the stuck pixels just return.

Just take it back to an Apple store. Be nice and they’ll probably replace it for free.

I had the same issue with my iPhone 2g pushing it down is only a temporary fix. Go to your nearest Apple store you may have to make an appointment prior to going because sometimes the Apple Genius’s are extremly busy. You can make an appointment under find store at apple.com or you can call a store if you know it’s location. Aslong as it’s a problem with the iPhone and not because of user error Apple will replace it for free.

To add on to Jamkas answer, you have to make a genius bar appointment. They really don’t offer a walk-in service unless you want to be a jerk and throw a tantrum in the store to get your way.

Genii are always busy.

You can’t make a genius bar appointment over the phone, have to do it online.

As long as it’s a manufacturing defect, the iPhone is in warranty and it falls within the genii’s guidelines for replacing a product for stuck pixels and the phone is not otherwise damaged by the user, then it will probably be replaced.

couple of things you can try before running off and wasting an afternoon:
1. try restoring your iPhone
2. check out this site: www.ebaspace.com/2007/08/05/iPhone-stuck-pixels/
If that doesn’t work or the problem gets worse, there’s always the Genius Bar.
goodluck!

Apple unfortunately (like every mfr) has pretty restrictive policies on exchanges for bad pixels. For their laptops they tend to exchange only when there are several right next to each other. This will be a borderline case so it’s a great thing to google beforehand (so you can find out what strategies worked for other people to actually get replacements).

Listen to @StellarAirman; I don’t know what Genii @cirrina has dealt with, but a Genius will almost always replace your iPhone as long as it is a legitimate hardware problem and you haven’t damaged it or dropped it in the pool. Same for Macs.

Same here, I had roughly five pixels in a line going black on my 2G, they replaced it without argument at my local Apple Store, despite having bought the phone from AT&T directly.

Apple Store is the way to go.

Yes, @TaoSan makes an excellent point: Problem with your iPhone? Do not go to at&t first; make an appointment for the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store. At&t often provides people with wrong information, and in the end will usually send you to the Apple Store anyway, only without an appointment.
