yes. because otherwise, i’d poke people in the eye.

i kid. or do i?

in what sense? To determine my status? No.
I dress in a way that’s comfortable and what, to me, is cool. but i most likely am not cool based on my clothes. i like what i like.

Less important than they used to be in terms of status (I was an insecure kid), but more important in terms of fit and fabric. Vintage 4-ply cashmere? Yes, please!

i dress for success or if i cant decide i put on my favorite dead tshirt and a pair of jeans with the “F*#% it” attitude.

Yes & no. I like comfortable clothes. The job I have now I can wear jeans & that’s pretty much all I wear. High dollar brand name clothes don’t impress me, altho I do like Land’s End.

All I want is clothes that are comfortable and protect me from the elements as appropriate. Fancy, fashionable clothes tend to be uncomfortable or unaffordable or both. I wouldn’t mind looking nice, but it’s not important enough to put in much effort.

Comfort, good fit and good wear are what are important to me.

With flat feet, I need to wear comfortable shoes which pretty much dictates comfortable clothes. I like to present a neat appearance but L.L. Bean usually works fine for me in most cases. I used to be more into clothes when I was younger (and thinner.)

for me they do, i feel horrible and like crap if i dont match from the hat to the shoes. but if i see someone else that doesnt fit to my clothing standards…i dont care to much…i just think to myself..i must look good compared to that guy.

Nope. I’m a slob.

Yes otherwise it’s a bit jolly chilly here in England without them! Do I like to buy them…hell yeah I’m a girl!! :) Goes without saying! ;)

I assume your asking just how seriously we take fashion? In which case, I say meh. Every morning I throw on jeans and a T-shirt with a funny picture on the front, and it gets me through the day.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@Foolaholic what, no fluther t-shirt?

Foolaholic's avatar

@jbfletcherfan

I didn’t say that, I just have many more threadless than I do fluther. :)

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@Foolaholic I was just teasing…......

toomuchcoffee911's avatar

Ahem, if you don’t mind…

loser's avatar

In the sense that I don’t wanna be naked, yeah…

scamp's avatar

Well since is is 19 degrees here, yes clothes are important!!
What an odd question!

I have to present a certain image at work, so I have to dress “for success”. But in reality I’m a jeans, shirt and converse kinda gal. But don’t get me wrong, I like dressing up and looking cute. I just would never spend the time if I don’t have to.

Oh, and to answer the question, yes. They help me make money, and they keep protected from the elements. They also get me potential dates, but I’m taken.

i like clothes. i’m not going to lie. i don’t really want to say that they’re important to me, but they appeal to me. i’m not obsessed with buying overpriced designer clothing – though there are a few things by betsey johnson and marc jacobs i certainly wouldn’t mind having, and i admire most designers for their art – but i do love clothes. i think clothing is an interesting form of expression, or just fun, picking things out that appeal to you and putting an outfit together and seeing what you’ve got.
that said, i don’t judge people by their clothing. clothing is not in the criteria i have for people i want to talk to. i’m not afraid to go out in pajamas. i’ll even go to the extent to say that i do tend to look like a slob – i love flannels. i love pajamas. i love giant sweatshirts. i don’t like pants. i’ve gotten strange looks for things i’ve worn. but at the end of the day, if i think i look good – or if i think i look bad but i’m damn comfortable – i’m pretty happy. (:
