Too cool for school?

Asked by wundayatta (58722points) February 9th, 2009

Was there a moment in your life when you were the coolest you’ve ever been? What was it like? How did it come to be? What made you that cool at that moment?

@AstroChuck You’re the god of cool. Everyone knows that. But surely there are some incidents that stands out from all the others? Pick one. Let us bask in the glory that is you.

All bow down before the Chuck from the stars and thank the grace that allows us to know Him.

This question reminds me of a poem.
We Real Cool. We
Left School. We
Lurk Late. We
Strike Straight. We
Sing Sin. We
Thin Gin. We
Jazz June. We
Die Soon.

I just needed an excuse to post that. sorry for going off topic but it’s a cool poem

<== Never cool.

@peyton_farquhar: not off topic. Note the topics. RIght there. It says “jazz june.” That’s my favorite Gwendolyn Brooks poem. I actually heard her read it live, once.

In 10th grade I thought I was the shit. Ok, maybe not that awesome, but I did think I was pretty cool. I had a ton of friends, something to do every weekend. Most of my friends were older meaning I could easily get alcohol and smokes (even though I never smoked). I ditched classes and put hardly any effort into my work and was still pulling As and Bs.

Life was easy.

I had a 1970 Cougar XR7. I was dating a guy way older than me. I had a terribly cool job as a junior in high school. I was a captain of my swim team. Yep. Me be coo. Of course, it all fell apart. I am just getting my cool back now.

Uhm, once, for an hour, when I was 23. my five o’clock shadow was bitchin’, and i had a guinness in hand. prior to that and thusly to this point, it’s been crap.

Yep, when I was 24 I had this Mary Quant dress, wool jersey, color of caramel, with a short-short little flippy skirt and some big buttons and a cream-colored Carnaby Street collar and cuffs, and it framed my bra-lessness in such a way as to make the boys stumble, and…
well…. I was the best painter in art school and had that great dress too.

Can’t beat that.

In my mid-20’s, I was doing martial arts at least 20 hours a week, I was climbing the corporate ladder, and I was too cool for the dojo.

I’ve not experienced a moment where I’ve felt like I was cool. At least not yet.

It was a really warm summer day. My man works on a farm and had just put in an 11 hour work day. He came home, shirt drenched in sweat, with a buddy from work, to unload firewood from the truck. They had just gotten the last of the wood out when I greeted him in a sexy summer dress with three cold beers in hand.

I was the coolest wife ever that day

I’m still waiting for my coolest moment ever.

I pole vaulted in high school. Pole vaulting, by nature of how it works and is run, starts first and usually ends near the end of the meet. this time every other event ended and every person on both sides were watching myself and the guy from the other school go at it. If I won, we won the meet. If he won, they did. Rival school. I won, beating my best by 3 inches. That night we had a school dance and they announced it.
