Online application question?

Asked by LKidKyle1985 (6594points) February 13th, 2009

Have you guys ever filled out one of those online applications that you typically find if you apply to any major franchise company, like best buy, circuit city, target. They ask you like 44 pages of questions and they are like 8 of the same questions but all worded differently. What the hell is up with that? and why do they do that? what are they testing for?

I’ve taken those tests before, they’re pretty common in the application process. It’s basically a personality test which essentially cuts the time store managers spend on interviewing applicants.

They’re trying to assess your personality. By asking you the same questions that are worded slightly differently, they’re trying to see if your answers are consistent. It’s a bunch of crap, in my opinion, because I don’t think employers have any right to give potential employees a personality test. Basic, maybe… But not to the degree most places do now.

I agree with @DrasticDreamer – they’re pretty useless. There’s really no direct correlation at all between the scores on the tests and whether or not a person can do the job well.

How dare you question the almighty SCORE, IMBECILES I SAY.~

Credit scores
Banking scores
Insurance scores
Health scores
IQ scores

Sometimes I think America would be better off if big corp would do something else than outsource to China and develop more SCORES.

Sigh…

yeah it is frustrating, I find myself trying to remember how I answered all the other questions that were similar and they way they word some they have different meanings and are vague. Oh well, thanks guys

I followed one of those once, trying to see if I could get to the ‘Free MP3 Player’. The thing got so convoluted and I eventually wound up on a porn site. I never did find the MP3 player.
