Conscientious Objector Status?

Asked by blakemasnor (323points) February 13th, 2009

Is this still an option? If not, why did it stop? If so, how can I become a conscientious objector before a draft is enacted?

I believe there is a Conscientious Objector clause but I have been in the military for over 20 years now and I can definitely state that there is no reason whatsoever for a draft and there isn’t likely to be one in anyone’s foreseeable future.

The Conscientious Objector status is a moot point for all intents and purposes because our armed forces enlistments are completely voluntary and it will probably always stay that way.

I appreciate that, and I realize that the draft being enacted is highly unlikely but I’d still like to know
