Where can I buy inexpensive rubber rain boots in San Francisco?

Asked by sfgal (283points) February 17th, 2009

The small boutique shoe stores sell them but they are all pretty pricey. I saw that Target sells them online for $25, which is about how much I’d like to spend, but I’d ideally like to be able to buy them now in person so I don’t have to wait for delivery and I can wear them for all the rainy weather this week. There’s no Target store in San Francisco. Is there anywhere else I can buy them?

Try the Nordstrom Rack.
Or maybe that new TJ Maxx?
Though you could easily BART to a Target.

You might have some luck at your local Walgreen’s. In my experience, they often sell timely items inexpensively (though, they aren’t particularly well made). Another option is to meander around Chinatown. The stores there are really cheap, and have lots of these types of things.

Is there a Delias there?

Try DSW, I can always find a perfect shoe for any outfit there, plus there is one in Union Square.

Does everyone know we are having the first real puddle weather in 3 years? That’s why any rain gear is hard to find, even at the stores above.

I knew that it was raining there and can see how its annoying.
Move to Ohio we have every type of weather here and plenty of gear to purchase.

This is helpful, thanks everyone!
@nimis, out of curiousity, do you happen to know which Target stores are walking distance from BART? When I searched on their website it shows some in the Peninsula and some in the east bay but it doesn’t show public transit stops nearby…

@sfgal There are two Targets in Daly City, one in the Serramonte Shopping Center and the other across 280 in Colma. You can take BART to the Daly City stop, and then take SamTrans to either Targets. Note, I’ve never done this as I always drive to Target to haul off boxes and boxes of diapers and stuff, but, it’s worth a shot.

@sfgal San Bruno may be a bit further stop-wise, but will be less of a walk.
It should pop you right out at the Tanforan Shopping Center.

PS Might be helpful to work backwards from BART.

About the Target boots—I bought them twice, and both times, they only lasted a few months before springing leaks. (See my avatar for a pic of one of those cute, but unsturdy, pairs.)

@answerjill I guess the “you get what you pay for” mantra is not far from the truth.

@shilolo—in this case, yes.

I went to the new TJMaxx today but they didn’t have any rainboots…
