I originally thought this was just me failing at using Google, but maybe it’s harder than I thought to find this out?

Where did you find out that this is the 4th most common cause of arrest? Did they list a resource for that number? Maybe we could track it that way…

It looks like DUI, Theft (“Larceny”), and Assault are the top 3…

Disorderly conduct and Marijuana possession seem be come out pretty close along with Drunkenness and Liquor Laws (I’m assuming this is underage drinking, permitting laws, things along those lines?)

This is all for 2005, didn’t find newer stats during a quick search

overall numbers
breakdown of drug related offenses specifically

Assault and battery or urinating in public.

Disorderly conduct / breaking peace are such despicable rubber paragraphs in all 50 states Fidel Castro would be proud of them.

Im not sure what the top three are but there were 870,000 marijuana arrests in 2007 (88% for simple possesion), cited from NORML.org.

Publicly available data for NYC shows assault tops arrest lists.
Marijuana-related arrests were among the top five until a few years ago when those crimes were de-prioritized and even more as it has become de-criminalized.
