Can anybody help me with my Dell printing problem?

Asked by breedmitch (12171points) February 24th, 2009

My work printer is a Dell 1320c color laser printer. It works fine with our Vostro 1500 laptop. We just got a new Dell Studio laptop and can’t seem to get it to print anything on that same printer. Drivers are installed. The printer is set as the default. When we print it seems to be working (it says it’s printing- but nothing prints) but maybe it’s not communicating? Is it a Vista vs XP problem? We are using the same printer cable. What’s the problem here?

is it on USB?

Yes, we’re using the same USB cable for both computers.

did the computer not try to do an add new hardware when you plugged in the usb? Most of the time it will do that first, and then ask for a driver. I would try to uninstall it and then plug in the usb, see if the computer recognizes it, then install the driver. Let me know any further details that might help me come up with a solution for you.
