Are you watching Obama's Address to Congress?

What did he mean when he said he’d been touched by cancer? Obama never had cancer himself, did he?

It’s such a relief to be able to listen to the president speak and not cringe.

His mother died of it hours before the election results were announced, I believe.

I am watching it, actually, and I’m looking for some good reasons to be enthusiastic about it. It has sounded good so far but there is just too much uncertainty out there to get too optimistic about anything at this point.

Yeah. And Joe Biden is texting.

It’s such a relief to have a president who besides having a coherant command of the English language, also says things that are a good idea.

Yeah. I love listening to him talk… hopefully I’ll love what he does, too.

@jackley Nope, his mother died of it years ago, before his daughters were born. It was his grandmother who died right before the election, but I forget if it was because of cancer or not.

@chelseababyy hahaha he so is dude. He looks like me in math class. Pretending to be paying attention, nodding at certain points but ultimately so not giving two shits and texting his little heart out.

Honestly, whether what he proposes actually works to improve our situation- well nobody knows. We all just have to see. But the ideas he’s throwing out there, everything I just keep going “YES!” and “Thank God, he’s human” too. I’m glad the general Fluther consensus is the same. :).

I’m watching it. I hate all the applause. It takes too long and too much time.

It really is getting annoying. Obama has been trying to stifle it since the beginning when she snuck that extra round in. The lady in the pastel green suit keeps eggin’ it on. Just let the man speak damn it. I wanna hear that more than your applause.

@onesecondregrets Between Biden texting, the woman next to him standing and clapping every 2 minutes, and all the other guys half asleep, this is quite amusing. He’s def texting, hiding the phone so he looks bust but he’s really not.

Has anyone else noticed that Nancy Pelosi keeps jumping up behind him like a Jack-In-The-Box even before he finishes ending some of his sentences? It is really annoying and dumb looking also.

I am at a get together in Times Square for young Dems, waiitng for the Republican response. The mood here is jubilant. People here were really happy to hear about the health care reform. It’s weird to see the President as rock star. I’m not sure I’m cool with it.

Wtf is going on with this republican response. Bobby Jindal has horrible delivery and his stories are just….... And thennnnnnnn the sheriff said…. i feel like this is targeted towards children.

With regard to the republicans response I found it interesting that they chose the youngest senator, who is a minority I believe but a TERRIBLE speaker to respond. I had to turn it off. I felt like I was at my daughters preschool.
