Where can I find a cool free logo creator/text editor?

I know somewhere beyond the advetisement spam there is a good free logo creator or text editor that is slick like the other Web 2.0 tools. Anyone know where I can find something like this?

Check out GIMP

For logo’s you’ll probably want a vector graphics editor like Inkscape as opposed to a raster graphics editor like the GIMP (which is an excellent application, but raster).

I agree with Vincentt, however, if you have downloaded GIMP, you might enjoy Gimpshop, a mod for GIMP that makes it feel a lot more like photoshop (in case you were used to a photoshop-style workflow).
