Is that a new default background? It doesn’t look great. Though I wasn’t a big fan of the previous default backgrounds either.

You can see that the default background changes slightly in some of the pics. But I suspect that the change isn’t as recent as it seems—it probably changed some time ago, but the website was already being put together.

Most people customize their desktop wallpaper anyway… so what they show in the ads is essentially irrelevant. I actually prefer the space image to the close-up of dewy grass.

i believe they changed it more for marketing purposes. The new only looks shiny, attractive and futuristic – maybe to attract new customers. Also the new only looks so much better than the dewy grass

They actually changed to that default background around the end of August. It seems to fit in better with the “Time Machine” theme, and, in my opinion at least, it looks a bit better with the new Dock than the previous “Grass” desktop.

Yeah they have been using that one for some time, at least a month or so. Most of the Apple geek websites that have been posting screenshots from developer builds of 10.5 have commented on the new desktop image.

The swirly blue one is still the best – unobtrusive and cool.
