Do you have a gyrocenter?

Asked by bigbanana (494points) February 28th, 2009

My father always taught me that the key to a great life was having a constant in your life that was inside you, spinning. An unflappable, internal gyrocenter. What’s funny is he is a scientist that does not believe in God and yet this seems like a question that is spiritual in nature. So do you have a gyrocenter and what is it? Is it outside of you or inside?

If anything goes wrong, Desmond Hume will be my constant.

@girlofscience : Nice!

I’d have to say my program is unwavering. My philosophies are here to stay, and they keep me grounded. Any other reason I could give stems from my philosophies.

@girlofscience – Why wasn’t Daniel Charlotte’s constant?

If I have a gyrocenter it must be in my brain because it’s always getting scrambled.

Mine is internal, a personal motto, so to speak—and it fuels me both in good times and when I have felt a bit tired of the world. It’s “ithuteng” which means never stop learning in Soweto.
