Have you ever been envolved in a bromance?

Asked by mrswho (1690points) March 8th, 2009

Also, what would you call a bromance between two females, and can a platonic relationship between a male and a female be considered bromantic?

I think, for girls, we just call that ‘best friends’.

Fo girls: soromance
for a male and a female: heteromance

Involvement: nope

And here’s a question for you: what do you call a close, yet platonic relationship between a straight man and a gay man?

and let’s not go to the question of a friendship between a living straight man and a dead straight man

@daloon, I call that a friendship. Why people want to create new categories (names) for old things makes no sense to me.

—@evelyn’s: Call it “friendship,” and I’m with you.

Evelyn’s: Eech. You edited. And I can’t

Actually I always thought that any platonic relationship between a straight man and someone else was called a comedy team.

Ba-dap-BUM!!!

Awww, Guise, can’t we have a different name for it? Huh? Please? Just one little new name? Like fred or max or swahili? I have a max with my friend Fred. Or I have a fred with my friend Max?

Oh, I know. I have a neuromance. It’s like this intellectual closeness.

sheesh

I have a tight bromance, and last night were we talking about going into business together.

If I’m not mistaken I’m currently in a bromance. It’s gay but we’re straight. Nothin’ wrong with it as far as I can tell but if he ever tries to grab my dick when I’m sober they’re be a long discussion.

So you’re fine with it as long as you’re drunk… ;-)

I’m bothered by the term bromance.

adreamofautumn's avatar

I’m a girl…I don’t think we can have “bromances” I think the term “bromance” actually denotes a friendship between 2 men that is as deep and affectionate as the typical female “best friends” are. Why they can’t just say “best friends” is beyond me though.

Sakata's avatar

@adreamofautumn Because guys don’t throw that “best friend” concept around as freely as women. No offense, just observation.

adreamofautumn's avatar

@Sakata I agree they don’t, but on the other hand the increasing popularity of the word “bromance” does just that. I think “bromance” denotes that type of typically “Feminine” best friend bond. Though I don’t really know…I don’t know anyone that really classifies their friendships that way!

The social acceptance of metrosexuality and the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy guys have screwed it up for everyone.

when i have strong platonic feelings for a woman i say i have a girl crush.

Bromance sounds to me like a Ray Romano joke making fun of the pair in question. Friend, good friend, very good friend, pal, buddy, comrade, yes. BROMANCE?!?! No way! Way too… bromantic. ;-P
