I once fell off a 3rd floor balcony and only broke a finger.
As a result, I’ve had rheumatism since I was 14.
The longest concert I ever did lasted for 8 hours. I took 3 5-min breaks during that time.
When I was a kid, I could hold my breath for over 3 mins. I can actually dive from one end of any average-sized pool to the other without coming up for air.
In the army, I could change from military uniform to civilian clothes in less than 19secs. The opposite somehow took me more than 5 mins.

I met 2 Vice Presidents (Bush Sr. and Biden), both while in high school. I believe these experiences cemented my interest in politics.

I used to stub my toe all the time as a kid.

Hmm… I did this on facebook with those “25 Things” posts…

So perhaps I’ll recycle that here:

1. I have really awesome handwriting, both printing and cursive, and I use a bunch of different fonts. I can also do calligraphy.

2. I love public speaking and heights. I don’t have normal fears. I am, however, irrationally terrified of amputation and serial killers.

3. I want to adopt a babygirl in my late 30s. I don’t think I want to have biological children.

4. I am obsessed with a ton of TV shows, and TV is probably my favorite topic of casual conversation. I love discussing the following shows: Lost, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Big Love, The Office (British and American versions), Monk, and Fringe. I also like reminiscing about Friends, Seinfeld, Sex and the City, and Full House. Extras, Tell Me You Love Me, and Pushing Daisies were also great, and I am sad they are no more.

5. I don’t care about football, or any sports, at all. I don’t follow sports, and I don’t know anything about them. I would not be able to answer a single sports trivia question.

6. I have been dating my best friend, James, for over two years, and I love living with him.

7. We have three beautiful baby girl cats, Ilsa, Nicolette, and Alexandria.

8. My best girlfriend is Natalie, and we have been friends since we were 6.

9. I am an only child.

10. I love having long hair. My hair has never ever been short, and I plan to keep it long for as long as I can pull it off.

11. I have never been to Europe or anywhere outside the US other than the Caribbean and Canada. I really want to travel more, and I think I’d enjoy temporarily living in Australia, Germany, the UK, or Ireland.

12. I am a member of the Democratic Party and gigantic supporter of our current President.

13. I’m also a huge supporter of women’s reproductive rights.

14. I am fascinated by bizarre concepts like Fundamentalist Mormonism, Body Integrity Identity Disorder, and Pitcairn Island, and I read a lot about these things to satisfy my curiosity.

15. When I was in college, I was an SAT and academic tutor and instructor as my part-time job, and I loved my students so much. I became so close with them, and I think I may have really impacted their lives.

16. I am a volunteer for Independent Animal Rescue. We find safe homes for homeless/abandoned/abused animals. I am also a caretaker of several feral colonies, and I support trap/neuter/return. I am extremely opposed to the declawing of cats.

17. I grew up in Philadelphia and attended college there as well. After 22 years of Philadelphia, I moved to Durham, NC for grad school.

18. My parents are a lot of fun and really supportive. They live in New Jersey now, but they moved there after I went to college, so I was never a Jersey girl.

19. I am not a vegetarian, but I only like chicken, steak, and bacon.

20. I wish I had taken more physics and math classes in undergrad.

21. I think education is extremely important and that a college education should be available and affordable for everyone.

22. I love going out to dinner, and Jim and I try a new restaurant every week.

23. I also love getting dressed up and going to the theatre. I just subscribed to see plays once a month in Raleigh.

24. I love airports and airplanes. I find the whole environment really uplifting.

25. I have a really crazy memory for numbers. Even without trying to memorize a number, I tend to remember numbers permanently.

@cak: Ironing is totally instant gratification and peaceful, too. The skate thing just happened. I was too afraid to go onto the frozen river in skates, so I never learned to skate. Once I was older, I didn’t relish the idea of falling on my ass!

I hate hate hate (did I mention hate?) ironing! It goes back to gradeschool when my mom was at work and my dad was sick and I had to get myself ready for school. I would always burn my belly with the iron. now I pay the drycleaners to do it for me.

When I was 8, my cousin shot an arrow into the sky. Standing about 20 feet from him, and just knowing that it is imposible for him to hit me, he aimed it straight up and let it go. It took about 25 to 30 seconds to come down. And wouldn’t you know it came right back down and struck me “dead” center on the top of my head. I still have a little dip in the center of my skull. And I will never forget that pale, stunned look on my cousin face.
