I’m going to be in a Wii Fit hula hoop contest this weekend. Any tips for getting a high score?

I saw someone get over 300 in 70 seconds earlier. I gotta beat that! I got 208 when I practiced.

@EmpressPixie WoW I’m lucky to last a few seconds. It’s pathetic! I try too hard, I think. I’m great a hitting homerun, though ;)

I’ve gotten up to 221. Depends on which way I’m hula hooping. To the left is always harder. I think it’s cuz I’m right handed (?). But my daughter has gotten up to 257 and she can really hoop it. So, 300 sounds amazing.

Good luck, EmpressPixie!

Okay, I guess I’m the odd one in thinking that game is pretty easy. I don’t know how to give any tips without being able to show you – you just twirl your hips in a circle and lean towards whoever is throwing a hoop at you. Just make sure you start leaning early, or you’ll miss it. Ironically, I suck at real hula-hoops. ;)

Yes, have someone else do it for you

@Nancy13903 I lurve you here, too:D

Why yes, I have broken that 300 mark. I would say the trick is to be shift your weight back and forth. The board is based on the pressure pads, so the faster you shift weight the faster it thinks your spinning.

@Foolaholic You have to shift in a circle though – front-left, front-right, back-right, back-left, etc. Just left & right won’t work since the sensors detect forward & back as well as side to side.

All I know is that the first time I was hula hooping my daughter walked in the room and said “Uh…no. You should never do that again!” I told her she didn’t have to watch it.

LOL Poor Autumn!
Lucky for me, my daughter’s still young enough to think I do everything perfectly. ;) I am not looking forward to the teen years.

My aunt is visiting me and I talked her into bringing her fit so I could practice for the contest. I’m getting set up now—I’ll totally report back on how I’m doing.

@Alyanna

As long as your swiveling your hips in the circle, the pad with catch the forward and backwards by itself as you shift.

@Foolaholic That’s what I meant – your post sounded like you meant just shift left & right – I wanted to make sure no one was confused.
I know how to play – like I said before, it seems pretty easy to me. I wanted to make sure people who were new to the game understood. :)

I got a 310! And a 309 and a 308. It reallllllly helps to get all the hoops the first time they are tossed. I also got a bunch of like 260ish ones.

@EmpressPixie – awesome! I have gotten all of the hoops the first time tossed too – but that seems to slow me down getting them going again.

So is the contest today? Good luck! (what’s the prize? I hope a Wii fit!)

I’ve got 320 – you need to be consistent with the Mii movements and it doesn’t matter to go very fast, just keep your feet apart from each other and do wide circles. Also you need to get all the hoops the 1st time they are tossed, and when doing that wait as much as you can so that the rest of the hoops do not lose too much momentum.
