What if I were God and had low self esteem ... if I didn't believe in myself would that be blasphemy?

Trying to start a flame war? (Although I do like “cantaloupe” in the topics list.)

AstroChuck's avatar

No. Just silly.

Sakata's avatar

Why does everything have to end up in a flame war? Can’t we all just laugh once in a while?

DrBill's avatar

It is not possible to know you exist and not believe in your own existence.

TitsMcGhee's avatar

Tee hee. Well I appreciate the humor.

Jayne's avatar

Yes. And then we will have to burn you as a heretic. And then you won’t exist anymore. So then it would no longer be blasphemy. Thus, it both is and is not blasphemy. The logic is inescapable.

I hope you will join us next week for our discussion of the pin-size-to-dancing-angels ratio controversy.

Trying to be clever today, are we?

Blondesjon's avatar

@asmoneti believe the term your looking for is struggling

Jayne's avatar

Are you impugning my theological brilliance?

Blondesjon's avatar

@Jayne…Heavens no! Your theological brilliance is so bright I gotta wear shades.

Jayne's avatar

Oh good. I was about to call over my homeboy Martin Luther to open a can of whoop-ass in your face.

Blondesjon's avatar

Ohhh…one of those are ya? My grandmammy used to say “You Lutherans cain’t ride a bottle to heaven.”

fireside's avatar

If I were a cantaloupe and you squeezed me, would I squirt?

cwilbur's avatar

Putting “What if God…” before an asinine statement does not make it any less of an asinine statement. It does not make it funny, either.

Siren's avatar

I like that question too…funny! :)

Sakata's avatar

Reading a question does not mean it must be answered. It does not mean you have to laugh at it either.

I don’t recall seeing “cwilbur will think this is hilarious” in the description.

Oh, when the Jets fall in at the cornball dance,
We’ll be the sweetest dressin’ gang in pants!
And when the chicks dig us in our Jet black ties,
They’re gonna flip, gonna flop, gonna drop like flies!

Siren's avatar

@fireside: Yes, but it depends on the amount of pressure you applied. Why? Is someone threatening you harm?

cwilbur's avatar

@sakata: You asked “why does everything have to end in a flame war?”

Not everything has to end in a flame war. Asinine questions mocking religion, however, are likely to wind up there.

You then continued, “Can’t we all just laugh once in a while?”

Indeed. We laugh at things that are funny. If you were to post something that was funny, I expect people would laugh. You posted flamebait, and you’re getting flamed. See how that works?

Sakata's avatar

The question has nothing to do with religion. It’s all about 1 person/entity and… ya know what? Fuck it. You win Mr. Buzz Killington.

Siren's avatar

@cwilbur: I thought it was funny. I liked the fact that people can laugh at stuff once in a while. where’s yer funny bone, stranger?

asmonet's avatar

But did you lol4rl?

I thought not.

Siren's avatar

I lol4rlwtsdmf.

asmonet's avatar

You laughed out loud for real with tasty salami down your front?

Siren's avatar

Good God Asmonet! Can’t you decipher code??? I was laughing out loud, rolling on the floor, with tears streaming down my face. DUH!

;)

You know what? That salami comment has made me hungry not sexually, you deprived thinkers out there!

Siren's avatar

oh, 4rl means for real does it? Whatever happened to roflol?

Okay, I don’t care actually.

As you know.

asmonet's avatar

Andrew was annoyed with how common lol was and how very rarely it actually meant laughing out loud. So now, on fluther, if you actually lol, you lol4rl. If you chuckle in your brainmeats only, it’s lol.

Jeruba's avatar

@DrBill, are you saying Descartes was wasting his time?

theluckiest's avatar

If I were God there would be no explicit sex on T.V.
Like little Opie eating pie when he made it with Aunt Bea

Finally! 2 weeks & 31 responses later. Awesome

AstroChuck's avatar

@theluckiest- Im sure glad you’re not God.

theluckiest's avatar

Hahaha I don’t know exactly how I found it but I appreciated it immediately ;)

Thou shall add the book of FlavaFlav to the bible.

doggywuv's avatar

To not believe that you exist would make you no longer self-aware. It wouldn’t be wrong because you’d be God – you can do anything you want!

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

Like the phrase I am what I am not. From the old phrase I am what I am.

Jeruba's avatar

@RedDeerGuy1, that was me. I just GA’d you on a question asked and last answered (until 7 minutes ago) in 2009.

So what prompted you to return to this Q now, after more than 12 years, and post an answer?

Jeruba's avatar

Oh—a sidebar Q? Ok.
