CCR, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Starship, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, really anything rock from the 60s-70s, especially swamp rock. Pop and rock from the 50s-60s. Anything Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart. You need to get some soul from some ladies. Dusty Springfield, Aretha, you should grab some Eva Cassidy grab some jazz. Billie Holiday, ella Fitzgerald. Just. I have too much music.

Explore new music, broaden those musical horizons, kiddo.

Guggenheim Grotto, both albums
Lilly Allen
David Byrne and Talking Heads – entire collection
Shout Out Louds (good pop)

I haven’t discussed my fixation/obsession with Guggenheim Grotto on Fluther, have I?

David Bowie!

Fuckballs! How did I miss Bowie? and Queen!
I’m wearing my concert shirt from Bowie’s Reality tour right now. What the hell is my malfunction.

I firmly believe that all ipods need at least one or 2 good jam bands. Mine would not be complete with O.A.R and Dave Matthews.

Besides Bowie, i would say:
The Who
The Beatles
The Clash
Radiohead
Vampire Weekend
Elliot Smith
Arcade Fire
Audioslave
Rage Against The Machine (not heavy metal in my book)
Arctic Monkeys
Bloc Party
Cake
Interpol
Old 97’s
Wilco
The White Stripes
TV on the Radio
Talking Heads
Spoon
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Muse
My Morning Jacket
Modest Mouse

And about anything they^ said.

Guggenheim Grotto They’re playing South by Southwest this week, and will be on World Cafe in the next few weeks as well. I get to see them for a second time in a month on the 24th in a really small, personal venue.

MGMT, Owl City, The Postal Service, The Black Keys, Death Cab for Cutie, Beulah, Ghostland Observatory, Klaxons. All of these are good “modern” acts I have been listening to.

Okay, no one seems to have mentioned the Grateful Dead!

They didn’t have that many #1 hits but someone said at some point they were “America’s last great traveling circus”. For about 30 years straight, with a slight breather in 1974, they toured the U.S. and occasionaly Europe. They even played in front of the Great Pyramid in Egypt. Aside from that their music was unique, jammy and really never quite the same more than once. Plus, if you have a small ipod, one of their songs could probably fill up the whole thing, I kid, I kid. An acquired taste for sure, but their my #1 favorite. Oh and make sure it’s live. They really were a “live” band. If you do go studio go for American Beauty and/or Workingman’s Dead.
