How exactly did Natasha Richardson die?

Asked by haleyray07 (225points) March 18th, 2009

I know she was in a skiing accident and fell, then about an hour later complained of a headache and was taken to the hospital. But I haven’t seen what exactly happened, was it internal bleeding, ect.?

Head injury

fox news (not exactly the best news source) has a doctor speculating “talk and die syndrome” (quite morbid of a name) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,509586,00.html
“But then they get a rapid collection of blood — usually called epidural hemorrhage — and that means bleeding between the skull and the brain

So sad.

Whoa. Wtf.

When?

I feel bad for Liam Neeson. :’(

This is so sad… it happened earlier today (yesterday, I guess now). Apparently she fell on a beginner slope, with a ski instructor.

asmonet's avatar

Wow, you always hear about the big bad slopes.
Jeez.

I wonder if getting medical attention sooner could have saved her. I’ll tell you what, form this point I will be paranoid – and super duper careful and cautious – every time one of my boys bangs his head.

She had a minor injury so it seemed to the head. She was even laughing about it and said it was nothing. But about an hour later she complained of a headache. She went to the hospital where she then slipped in a coma. She went brain dead and died. Its very sad.

Oh, no. I was hoping she’d pull through. Poor Liam.

It’s so sad to hear this news. I read about it last night. Her poor sons and husband – so very sad. :(

And her son is the boy that played edmond on Chronicles of Narnia. I feel bad for him as well.

No, that’s not her son. Skandar Keynes is descended from the Howards, the family of Anne Boleyn.

He is the great-great-grandson of biologist Charles Darwin (Darwin’s a Howard on his mother’s side), and the great-grand nephew of the famous economist John Maynard Keynes on his father’s side, and is a member of a distinguished Lebanese family on his mother’s. I read about this somewhere and was fascinated (and a little weirded out) that Charles Darwin has a descendant in show business.

asmonet's avatar

How do you know any of that?!
:)

aprilsimnel's avatar

@asmonet – I read about the movie when it came out in an entertainment mag, and the article mentioned that he was a descendant of Darwin and I thought, “Whoa!” Then I looked it up in Wikipedia. I’m fascinated by families where generation upon generation has these very accomplished people in them, whether they’re famous or not. Like the Barrymores. Or the Redgraves/Richardsons.

She knew too much about the natzi alien zombie that will take over the world in 2012, and they got rid of her

asmonet's avatar

@aprilsimnel: Interesting, thanks for elaborating. :)

@Myndecho What’s a natzi?
