The Penguin would be shitty. I hope they don’t do that.

I want to see Catwoman.

DH says: Killer Croc and Clay Face would be ridiculous, they wouldn’t work for this series. The Riddler would be neat.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Harley Quinn! Nothing against Catwoman, but I’m all for a new female villain.

El_Cadejo's avatar

Edward Norton as The Riddler would be amazing. He fits Nolans style as he can be explained in a “real” way. Nolan also said he will not be using the Penguin as he thinks hes a horrible character.(i agree). Catwoman is lame, i really hope they dont do her.

@aprilsimnel Harley Quinn is awesome. Ive decided if i have a daughter her name will be Harley Quinn :) As much as id like to see her in a movie, i dont really seeing that working as the joker is kind of gone….

Bluefreedom's avatar

I would like to see a complete breakdown in civility between all of the good guys.

Superman vs. Batman vs. Captain America vs. Spiderman vs. Wonder Woman vs. Aquaman vs. Green Lantern vs. The Flash vs. Plastic Man vs. The Wonder Twins vs. Captain Marvel

I think they call something like that a Battle Royale.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@uberbatman – Yeah, but some creative writer could work around that, right? I mean, she doesn’t have to stay the Joker’s worse half, does she? Darn it! Darn comics patriarchy!

eponymoushipster's avatar

Riddler or Mad Hatter.

In theory, they could make Bain work in this “realistic” Batman world, but it’d be more of a stretch.

the real twist would be if Batman was the villain, and it was all about Gordon and the cops chasing him – no other villain necessary.

adreamofautumn's avatar

It’s already known that it’s going to be the penguin. I can’t remember off the top of my head who they got to play the penguin, but rumor has it that it’s already in pre-production.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@adreamofautumn actually, nolan said he wouldn’t have penguin in it, because penguin doesn’t fit the style of the current batman franchise…

willbrawn's avatar

I would love to see the Riddler. That would be awesome.

A_Beaverhausen's avatar

i actually heard that johnny depp will be playing in the new movie as the villian,

asmonet's avatar

@casheroo: I liked Penguin. :’(

Of course, Michael Keaton was my Batman growing up. This orgasm Hollywood is having over Christian Bale needs to stop.

casheroo's avatar

@asmonet I like him too, but I just didn’t think they’d go in that direction, because of the feel of the movies.

asmonet's avatar

Yeah, I know what you mean. Penguin is a bit too ‘comical’. They’re going for dark and creepy and completely ignoring the humor of the franchise. Bleh.

I’m pretty much the only person I’ve ever met who could care less about this new run.

Bluefreedom's avatar

Although many might not agree with this, Michael Keaton was the first and best Batman – ever. The rest of them were just posers.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@Bluefreedom – No, I thoroughly agree. Bale’s Batman has no passion. No simmering rage underneath the surface. And Keaton’s did, and you could see that his Batman was barely keeping it in check. Part of the reason why Ledger stood out so much was that Bale’s portrayal was lifeless.

asmonet's avatar

Fuck yes. Blue. I love you.

The End.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@eponymoushipster With riddler i can still see it as batman as the bad guy, as riddler was brought in by the police to catch Batman. :)

@Bluefreedom what about adam west!?!

Bluefreedom's avatar

@uberbatman. Adam West was a hoot as far as television goes with the BOOM, KAPOW, SMASH graphics popping up every time he beat up the bad guys. As far as the silver screen goes, Michael Keaton first and then the other guys. Period.

Dr_C's avatar

I would love to see a GIGANTIC JELLY-FISH powered through psychic forces by @Bluefreedom , @asmonet , @eponymoushipster and of course… @astrochuck.

simone54's avatar

Is Edward Norton as Riddler a possibility? That would be amazing?

MrMeltedCrayon's avatar

I think Philip Seymour Hoffman would make an excellent Penguin. And maybe I’m being too harsh on the guy, but when Nolan says a character “Doesn’t fit” I think it’s his way of saying “I’m a lazy/uncreative bastard that can’t use a character unless it’s already GRIMDARK, rework a character to fit my image of the world is hard guys omg :(”

TheKNYHT's avatar

Unless I’m mistaken there are only two villians from the graphic novels that found out about Batman’s secret identity. Catwoman, because Batman revealed himself to her, and Riddler, because he was the only villian with enough cunning to unpuzzle the greatest of puzzles, Who is The Batman? They exploited this idea in the third Batman flick with Val Kilmer and Jim Carey.
I’d like to see Riddler, but not as Jim Carey portrayed the role; he did a fine job of it, it just wasn’t Riddler enough. In the graphic novel, Riddler was a cold, psychotic menace as lethal as a Cobra with a super-intelligent IQ.
Catwoman would be interesting. Halle Barry was good in that role, even if the script was the epitome of ‘lame’. Plus she looked extremely fine in the suit!

simone54's avatar

If they had Halle Berry (or even Halle Barry) in this, playing her character from that piece of shit movie, I’d burn down every theater that showed it.

madcapper's avatar

The already bombed Catwoman with that shitty movie! I would totally be down for Catwoman as Michelle Phifer (sp?) in Batman Deuce was hot as hell. I would want Catwoman to be a psycho though. Most Batman villains are and need to be…
My vote goes to the Riddler also.

TheKNYHT's avatar

ok well Halle Berry then… for what she was given in the way of script and direction, I still think she did a good job. The movie I agree lacked incredibly and could have been really good if they had a better script and director.
Michelle Pfieffer was indeed a VERY AWESOME Catwoman! I love when she did those flips down the street until she came face to face with Batman and Penguin, stood, catching her breath, gazing skyward for a moment, and then, as if just occurring to her, said ”...meow!” and then KA-BLOOEY!! lol!
Michelle is how old now? Praps a bit too old for the role? Pity!

aprilsimnel's avatar

Michelle Pfeiffer is 50.

willbrawn's avatar

And she is still hot

eponymoushipster's avatar

@willbrawn amen, brother.

i think they should get Megan Fox to play Catwoman.

Christian Bale, you can thank me now.

willbrawn's avatar

Oh wow. Megan Fox would be awesome as catwoman.

adreamofautumn's avatar

I also heard the “Riddler” rumor and that Johnny Depp is supposedly going to be the Riddler. No one knows for sure I guess.

eponymoushipster's avatar

I hope it’s NOT Johnny Depp, because i find him creepy.
i had heard that whoever was the last guy to play Dr. Who would be the Riddler, which i think would be good.

Also: megan fox would be the hottest option for Catwoman, but her acting chops for this are meh.

adreamofautumn's avatar

@eponymoushipster I think they’re aiming for creepy. It worked out so well for them this past time.

asmonet's avatar

@eponymoushipster: You mean David Tennant.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@eponymoushipster – That wouldn’t be a bad choice at all. David Tennant can play creepy. He sure played unhinged in those last few minutes of Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. He needs a director who’ll keep him from mugging, though, because he’s got a bit of a tendency to do that. But I like Johnny Depp, so I’d be satisfied with him. Or Ed Norton. Or Don Cheadle. Or James Franco. Or Leonardo DiCaprio. Or Kal Penn.

Oh, wait, James Franco should play Spike Spiegel! Yes!

asmonet's avatar

David Tennant please. He’s amazing. He can mug all he wants.

TheKNYHT's avatar

MEGAN FOX!!! Whoah!!! WHY didn’t I think of her?
She has CAT WOMAN TATOOED ALL OVER HERSELF! ...well, not REALLY but, you know what I mean! ; )

asmonet's avatar

Except for the fact that she’s a terrible actress.

adreamofautumn's avatar

I think she has time to grow into being a good actress. She’s young, new, and typically type-cast. I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@asmonet well, yeah – but those tata’s….va va va VOOM.

Alyanna's avatar

@eponymoushipster The Batman comics are dark & creepy – and the new movies fit the style well. I don’t see the problem with casting Johnny Depp – I think he’d fit right in. It’s way better than choosing horrible actors/actresses because they decide sex appeal is their only criteria (as you obviously would).

And why does everyone think Catwoman is lame? Just because some crappy movies/shows made her lame?? In the comics she’s one of the best villains out there. She’s not just some psycho who randomly gains mutant powers – she’s trained for years to be who she is. She’s like the perfect opposite to Batman. And she’s actually got a deeper personality than “homicidal lunatic.”

I’d love to see the Riddler too – Frank Gorshin was great in that role, even on such a campy show. And it would be cool to have Harley Quinn, though I doubt they’ll put her in without Joker. I guess they could say that Joker died & she’s trying to avenge him, but that really would have worked better if they’d introduced her in the last movie.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@Alyanna yeah, i suppose. but after Willy Wonka, Johnny Depp just creeps me out.

Catwoman, played by the right person, would be cool.

After those two, however, what would be a plausible for this incarnation of Batman villain?

TheKNYHT's avatar

What does everyone think about a mysterious villian thats not been seen before in any Detective Comics: Batman or Dark Knight graphic novel?
It certainly would keep people guessing as to who this villian is, only to be stunned to learn that its an all new bad guy/gal.
Incidently Megan Fox could rise to the occassion, as has been known to happen with new actors; still I think Depp as a bad guy: Mad Hatter maybe? . . . would be interesting!

Alyanna's avatar

@eponymoushipster
My top choices for the next Batman villain, in order:

Catwoman – Because I really do think she’s a perfect opposite to Batman
The Riddler – I can imagine him as similar to Jigsaw (from “Saw”) with tricky puzzles
The Scarecrow – Could to be cool. Picture an evil scarecrow, even if it is just a costume
The Mad Hatter – Again, he could be cool, if done correctly
Danny the Dummy – Don’t mannequin dummies freak everyone out?
Doctor Death – A typical mad scientist supervillain, he could open the door to less “normal” villains in any future movies (I mean really, how many normal villains does Batman face?)
Harley Quinn – She would be higher on my list, but without Joker I don’t really think she’d work (plus she’s not actually from the comics)

@TheKNYHT Personally, I’d rather have them stick with the traditional Batman villains. But it could be interesting.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@Alyanna Scarecrow was in the first two (mostly the first one). I guess he could be expanded on…

The Mad Hatter would be plausible, but he’d have to have something else to him besides, you know…hats.

the Dummy one is pretty low on my list. I’d take Clayface over him for a more “less normal” villain.

Alyanna's avatar

@eponymoushipster LOL, that’s what I get for answering after midnight. I did know that, I just lost my brain for a moment. So scratch him from the list.

I actually liked the dummy & his “handler” (I can’t think of his name – I had to look up the name of the dummy, to be honest) because I thought the pairing was interesting. And I don’t think either of them was an actual mutant, they’re just psychotic. But Clayface could be cool too. I’d actually forgotten about him last night. (Again, I shouldn’t be writing after midnight).

eponymoushipster's avatar

@Alyanna no sweat. Clayface was always my fav from the animated series in the 90s.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@eponymoushipster Mark Hamill’s Joker was the best, but clayface was a close second.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@uberbatman yeah, his voice is classic (i believe he’s doing the voice in the upcoming Arkham Asylum game as well).

i just liked the clayface stories best. i was 12, what can i say.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@eponymoushipster yea hes going to be in Arkham Asylum as well as Kevin Conroy (voice of Batman)
<eagerly awaits game> :P

eponymoushipster's avatar

@uberbatman yeah, i wish there was a Wii version. <sad monkey>

asmonet's avatar

I’ve decided, I want Harley Quinn.
She’s on my lesbian fantasy list anyway.

eponymoushipster's avatar

@asmonet funny, you and her are on MY lesbian fantasy list too. what a cowinkydink!

madcapper's avatar

@asmonet I would vote for Harley too but she is nonetheless the Jokers sidekick and not a true villain… but very hot in her outfit!

asmonet's avatar

Aw, shucks.

Christ, FOUR ga’s for that? My, my, my. :D

gbelste's avatar

I heard a while ago that Jim Carrey was casted as the Riddler.

simone54's avatar

Yeah? Did you here that 10 years ago when he played the Riddler the first time?

MacBean's avatar

I LOLed.
