What is a good spa or massage place in NYC?

I’m thinking of buying a gift certificate for a friend in NYC. Looking for someplace good but not too expensive. Anyplace in Manhattan…East Village would be good.

My favorite for years now has been Mario Badescu in midtown east. Their prices are moderate but seem cheap compared to some of the newer, trendier places. I think an hour massage is like $70 or $80 dollars. Not bad. Mario Badescu is one of those “insider New Yorker” places.
