Why is Yahoo mail such a screw up and how can I fix it!

Asked by syz (35938points) March 23rd, 2009

My business accounts are all on Yahoo and their mail is seriously FUBARred (mostly error message 17). Has anyone had a similar problem and been able to deal with it?

I found a bit of stuff on Google about Yahoo’s error 17. You might check this out.

With Yahoo, I would recommend using POP to get your email, not their web interface. However I think you still have to pay extra for POP with them.

You might also want to check out Google Apps as an alternative. It’s a great service.

Your business accounts should not be on Yahoo to begin with. I personally would never conduct business with anyone who has an @yahoo.com email address, as it reaks of unprofessionalism and immaturity. Register your own domain for your company, and use a real email provider.

@MrItty I think you can use custom domain names with Yahoo mail.

okay… but…. if you can… why would you? If you’re registering your own domain in the first place, why would you deal with Yahoo’s craptacular service? Why not get a real service provider instead?
