How does one remove and prevent certain users from adding you to their fluther?

Asked by Halliburton_Shill (268points) March 28th, 2009

I.e., there are people who are adding me to their fluther and I don’t want to be associated with them in any way.

You don’t. I’m adding you.

Jeruba's avatar

You can’t. But it’s one way. No reciprocity is implied.

kevbo's avatar

@Halliburton_Shill, It’s not your fault.

chicadelplaya's avatar

What’s the big freaking deal?

[Mod says] That feature does not currently exist.

People are actually adding you? Wow.

Sueanne_Tremendous's avatar

I think this a reverse psychology ploy to get as many people to add him as possible.

galileogirl's avatar

You are too new to be so exclusive. I added you to. I really think you posted the question just to get the lurve for being added. lol

SuperMouse's avatar

@Halliburton Shill, you’re in!

VzzBzz's avatar

I don’t see the harm in sending a comment and asking them to remove you. Tell the it burns your eyes to see them in your fluther. Most people are reasonable enough, especially here… going to check my comments now

Halliburton_Shill's avatar

@VzzBzz – I might send people like you, who I haven’t added simply because you added one of the people I would remove/prevent to your friends. These people are not reasonable. They wouldn’t be adding me unless they are trying to be everybody’s friend and it’s a form of self-promotion, which Fluther is supposedly against, and the words for that are in my topics for this.

VzzBzz's avatar

@Halliburton_Shill: mail me, you have just peaked my curiosity.

jrpowell's avatar

Actually, I added you because I’m a dick.

kevbo's avatar

^... and a shill for Pabst! OMG, What should we do? Everybody! Stay calm!

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

Well, I won’t add you ever, simply because you are whining too fucking much about it.

Because of this question I actually had a dream during my nap that someone sent me a PM asking me to remove them from my Fluther.

I just love this thread. It’s kind of like hyper control.
“It’s like saying not only am I not going to like you but I insist that you not like me”. :)

adreamofautumn's avatar

To be honest…there are some people that I would really not like to have add me to their Fluther, purely because if they added me they saw something they liked that I said which would unnerve me because they haven’t said anything that I remotely agree with. I can see where you’re coming from. However, since it’s not possible, just don’t add them to your Fluther (or add then immediately remove them..I think they get notification if they’re removed (-lurve maybe? I don’t know) in which case it can just be a really dick way to make your point.)

Do people take fluthers seriously? Why would you want to prevent someone from fluthering you. I hardly even know when it happens. Sometimes I’ll see someone has added me, but it’s usually someone I don’t know. I very rarely go and look. What matters to me is what happens here, in the questions and answers.

Jeruba's avatar

@daloon, I do notice, and I take it as a compliment. I Interpret it to mean that someone has an interest in or regard for my comments, whether they happen to agree with me or not. I use the designation the same way myself. Sometimes I don’t add someone right away but wait and see how their comments affect me over time.

galileogirl's avatar

The only thing anyone can do with their fluther as far as I can see, is to follow their activities. When you look at new questions you can choose the questions that reflect your interests, all the questions or your fluther’s questions. I don’t see much purpose in that especiall when someone has dozens of people in their fluther.

He was being serious, folks, and now he’s gone because of you!

Stop adding people who don’t want to be associated with you!

Halliburton, in my humble fucking opinion, put the ASS in associated.

Good riddance!

SuperMouse's avatar

@Zen you set me straight; I have removed Halli from my fluther. But like it or not, you’re still in.

Zen's avatar

@SuperMouse He no-longer exists – he is banned. Really. I wrote the truth, dear.

SuperMouse's avatar

Wow that was quick, sweetie.

Zen's avatar

@SuperMouse I’m quick, except at two things. (or did you mean his getting banned?)

SuperMouse's avatar

@Zen I was talking about his being banned, but lurve for making me laugh!

Zen's avatar

@SuperMouse Lurve you too, dear. I aim to please. I have good aim, occasionally. I like batting cages.
