Has anyone stayed at the Hilton Park Lane in London? I'll be in the UK in a few months and was booked there - wanted to see if anyone had any experiences to share?

I’ve gone on the bus past it before – it’s massive, expensive and looks very plush! Get you! ;)

It has a restaurant on the 28th floor which has pretty nice views and, if it hasn’t changed too much since I was there, decent food.

LOL. It’s on me boss – he has reward points. I hope i can live up to its plushness. I’ll wear my best H&M trousers lol

Thanks – I’ll check it out… when were you there?

@KalWest I think you should fit in just fine :) Hope you’ve got a head for heights!

A couple of years ago. But… I am willing to nip down there for dinner tomorrow evening and let you know.

Wow, really? Thanks very much…. Get someone to take you out so you don’t have to pay ;-)

Nonetheless – I’ll work on my poshness until I arrive lol. I’m ok with heights

Btw – I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go to a taping of the Graham Norton show – but i’m pretty sure he’s not taping on the days I’ll be there (only 3 days fri to mon)

@KalWest You like Graham Norton? Haha. That’s pretty cool. I didn’t know he made it big in the States.

Unfortunately he’s not a household name here – but I’m a BBC America junkie. I’m a huge Little Britain, Catherine Tate (How very dare you!) fan ;-)

@KalWest As far as I know the last run of the Graham Norton Show finished filming at the end of 2008.

jo_with_no_space's avatar

@KalWest That is cool! I LOVE Little Britain, it was really massive here.

@Lightlyseared
OH NO! He’s not doing any more shows???

Those guys are hilarious. Matt Lucas is a comedy genius. I love fat fighters lol

jo_with_no_space's avatar

@KalWest What other stuff do they show on BBC America? :)

@jo_with_no_space

From what I can remember: Cash in the Attic, You are what you eat (devastating!), Gordon Ramsey’s thingie about whipping restaurants into shape, How Clean is your House, Absolutely Fabulous (LOVE THAT), Gavin and Stacy. And of course BBC News.

jo_with_no_space's avatar

@KalWest Haha.. Gordon Ramsay did a US series or two of Kitchen Nightmares, but that’s not shown on BBC here, same goes for You Are What You Eat… that woman is sinister! :)

….Maybe they’ve got a special contract where they bought them from Channel 4 only for the purposes of BBC America.

OK so I’ve been, I’ve eaten and I’ve enjoyed the view and I had a pretty good time. The food was good but it wasn’t cheap (mind you with the exchange rate at the moment you might find it quite reasonable).

Also I’ve found out why Graham Norton isn’t on TV at the moment. It turns out he’s appearing in a musical called The Cage aux Folles (might have misspelled that) so you might want to check that out.

@Lightlyseared

Thanks very much! I’ll check out their restaurant – and thanks for the GN tip ;-)
