Why is everyone breaking up this month?

Asked by Mtl_zack (6778points) April 6th, 2009

I know of at least 3 couples that have broken up this month (end of March, beginning of April). Are your friends breaking up?

How do you feel about it? I feel kinda good (I know, I should go to hell), but now I’m on par with them in the “feeling like crap” category, and I’m not the only mopey guy.

I broke up in…hmm…I guess it was mid-February, technically. But I feel ya.

But someone wrote this on my Facebook wall for my birthday the other day. It was nice, which seems weird because it’s so negative, but I needed to hear it. It’s funny, too, because he’s really only an acquaintance and has no idea what’s been going on in my life, but somehow he read my mind or something and just knew.

Maybe…

Let’s not jinx us, ay? :)

Maybe because it’s the end of holiday season, and relationships that were strained anyway sometimes stay together through Christmas, New Years, and Valentines?

Because it’s not cold out anymore! If you live in a northern area, the winter is friggin’ cold, and you want somebody to huddle up to. Also, you’re outside less and get lonely all on your own. But when spring comes you feel free and alive! And then you decide to cast off that ball and chain.

Seriously, all of my friends are breaking up. My girlfriend broke up with me at the end of March, but a few weeks ago it got cold again and she asked me back out. Coincidence?

Keep in mind that MIlo and I will celebrate our first anniversary on April 18. Of course, I have been the one to get counselling and go to obedience school, but here we are, waiting for cake.

@gailcalled Tuna cake? I get my cats raw ahi for their b-days.

@tinyfaery : I told my daughter (whom Milo used to live with) that I was sneaking him teeny (size of a petit pois) bits of cheese, tuna or chicken sausage. She said, “NO human food. M will turn into a fatty.” I said, “You are 3400 miles away.”

What’s Ahi? Birthday is unknown so it will have to be our anniversary. How about a live mouse?

Raw tuna steak. Slice off a few tidbits for Milo, and then sear the rest coated in peppercorn and sesame seed. Yummy.

And raw tuna is something a cat might naturally eat.

Not necessarily. Tomorrow is mine and my SO’s 16 month anniversary… We are happy. :)

I’ve seen 6 married or otherwise committed-for-the-long-haul couples split over the past year. I think all this drama over the economy and election (and the underlying sea changes) are a factor.

yes, 3 couples i know have broken up in the last 2 weeks….wtf?

My guess is was because of all the lonely people having lower standards for valentines day in February 14th. Like all of the returned puppies on Christmas, people are returning their temporary partners.
